Well, if I decide to to do a Canadian Sport Tour again in '10 it will probably be a deeper exploration of the Gaspe. This is sad news indeed! (Thanks for the heads up Bruce!)
(Actually...I'm seriously considering a West Virginia tour...was there this summer in the car and realized there is a nearly infinite stock of roads that make "T___y R____d look like a ride on an expressway!)

Good idea! When I lived in Pittsburgh, West Virginia was the typical Sunday morning run for a number of guys from Steel City Riders.
We would start in Avella, PA, take route 88 south through Bethany, WV, and then take route 250 from south of wheeling the whole way to Hundred, WV. Then, depending on time, west on route 7, then east on 20. Easily the best street riding I've encountered. In fact, my first rides ever on a sportbike were 300-400 mile days in WV.

West Virginia....the shut down of the Cat Ferry sealed the deal....

umm... maybe you could ride both ways to/from Nova Scotia? No?
Gaspe was great to explore but the roads were less than fantastic when I was there a few years back. Certainly no Cape Bretton Isle. But it sounds exotic when you tell your friends where you went, no one knows were the fuck it is.
West Virginia, Southwestern Virginia, and Southeastern Ohio are fantastic, you can't go wrong.
Arkansas is another spot few people think of that has great riding, it just sucks getting there.
