hey folks me and a buddy are riding out to the quabbin monday 7-3-2006
i am posting this to see if any one wants to join and if anyone knows some good roads
this is an easy paced ride anywhere frome the the speed limit to 5 - 10 mph over we will keep it slow cause it is a holiday weekend
leaving between 9-10 from littleton ayer harvard region
it is a get lost ride so there is no real planned route
if any one is interested post up

32a is a nice little road for a scenic cruise. Rt. 32 between Ware center and Palmer is definitely a nice road with some good corners. 202 is a nice ride too, nothing special for corners there, a few overlooks you can see the Quabbin from. Rt. 9 isnt bad either Between Ware and Amherst, but State Police Barracks in Belchertown right on 9. If you take 202, make a point to take Prescott Rd. into the center of Shutesbury, and follow that straight through the center of town and theres about a mile of chicane-type corners just out of the center of town. The roads a little rough, but if you arent flying, it shouldnt be a big deal. You can take this right over to Rt. 63 if you want. If you make it up to 2A in Orange, check out Wendell Depot Rd. as well. Another good 2 miles of s-shaped road. A few rough spots as well, but nothing big.

If I get out of work early enough, maybe I'll try and track you guys down.

Go a little further and check out Rt 116. The road runs along a river and is very smooth. There are a few spots where you may need to slow or even stop for construction, but it has plenty of twisties in it.

Another good one is "Jacob's ladder". I can't remember the exact location of it, but maybe someone else here could.

What is "the Quabbin?" Just the reservoir or is it a stretch of road?

I think Jacobs ladder is part of Rt. 20 west of 91? Not sure.

Yeah, the lower half of 116 is having more construction done, and theres a bridge down to one lane with a light on it, RIGHT in the middle of a nice set of corners, really throws off the rhythm unfortunately. The upper half is clear though, just watch out in a few corners, I went through there a few weeks ago and they were filling spots on the side of the road, and where they had a large pile of TRG on the roadside, it was broadcast all over that corner, probably due to the trucks being loaded there or something.

Other than that, nice road and keep the speeds down in Conway center.

I was thinking about partying on Monday the 3rd since nobody has to work on Tuesday. Othr than that I have no plans for friday and Saturday night.

what's the estimated miles and time for this ride. I use to be out on rt202 alot during my days of UMass Amherst.

we will probably leave around 10 and back around 2
so maybe four hours maybe less i would say round trip is 400
but that includes 50 mile commute there
maybe it will only be 300 miles total
it is just a ride to get out
with all this rain and everyone graduating and christenings and all other bullshit
just have to get out

i dont have a liscense
but i did renew my permit so it is legal for me to be riding in state lines and before dark w/o a passenger
