I have a few friends going up to the Drag strip.. I am thinking I may skip Hockey and go..![]()
Anyone up for it?
Also who knows how to make up a quick kill switch tag line??? I think it may be safe to use one? I dont know what this thing is going to do, but do not want to get thrown off the track...

You don't need the kill switch doo-hickey unless you're in the 10s or something right?

oooh, i am very interested. not sure about time yet.
i haven't been up there in a long time.
p.s. R7 had some good ideas for quick easy lanyard kills a while back.
I do want to get up there in the fall, but not anytime soon really. I have the leather 1piece, so I'm all set there, I just need the quick kill.
I'm definatly interested to seeing what you run too!

So like I was saying I need a kill switch lanyard !!!
MY cousin was on an R6 last year breaking the 120 MPH mark.. They told him to get off the track and not return till he had a lanyard to the kill switch. I know my bike is faster than his R6. His weight and reaction times may be a much better factor, but I am positive I will be over the mark! I am not wasting a trip for one run, and be told I am done due to not having a lanyard....
& no I was not skirting the issue BigRed !!! BRING IT Beeaatch!!!![]()
Seems my cousin is no longer going due to not getting his kill switch on the new 954.
This may or may not happen this week for me?? But I will be getting up there Mr Biggy(Slightly Red)"Pink"so lets make a waiger after at least one practice run?

I guess I'm not fully understanding... where does this thing need to be located? It doesn't make any sense to me that you need another kill switch besides the little red one ..I mean anyone can come up and hit that if there is a prblem...I mean christ these are pretty much stock bikes...atleast mine is and it better be faster then an R6
..oh well...next time I guess... My friends in NC go to the strip all the time and a lot have like streched busa's etc...gues it's different in the south...

the lanyard hooks you to the kill on the bike. This way the the motor is stopped if you do something dumb like loop it on the launch, that way no one has to chase a lone bike rolling down the track to get that little kill switch. Its like the ones on jet skis and jet boats and probably other places too.
1/2 squid You can pick up those lanyards at most bike shops, they are very popular for kids bikes and snowmobiles so the bike don't keep going when the kid falls off. Let me know if you need help with it. I've been thinking about Epping for a few weeks, now I'm really tempted!

Drill a small hole in the corner of your little red kill switch (make sure the kill switch is in the OFF possition) , then fish a peice of some type of fishing line or i used the rubber cord that connects some ear plugs together, threw the hole and tie the other end to a safty pin (they allow this ONLY if you use a safty pin) then clip the safty pin to the sleeve zipper on your leather jacket.
Make sure you have a chain guard on the bike as well as you cannot run without one. The snell rating has to be fixxed into the helmet from the factory, the snell sticker on the back of the helmet meens nothing to them as it's just a sticker. Those are just some of the things i remember from spending many Friday nights and saturdays running test and tunes.

Well there seems to be a good interest here anyways so , one Wednesday in the very near future I will skip hockey and go. I will coordinate with my cousin and a few other I know wanting to go and find a good week.
Mark, good advise on the kill switch, I remember you talking about that now that I hear it again ! I will probably use some of the 50lb test fishing line we have at work with a safety pin! KEWL!![]()

If the weather holds out and I have my new tires on I'm in. Last time I went down I was running low 11's at 120+ mph but it was my first time at the track on the bike and was expecting some tires spin ( asked the regulars there about) it so I didn't launch and short shifted. Turns out they never slipped so ready to do it right this time and get some high 10's and closer to 130 mph. I heard about the fish line/ safety pin job when I went down, had one set up but never ran it. At the time the 120 rule wasn't in effect to need one just the 10's. I heard they are picky about that set up as well. Might be worth calling and asking what they will allow for lanyard swithes.
That thing got a KAWI in it?????? SWEEEEEET!!!!!!!
