September has been the best time to go. We've gone down in May every other time and it's nice, but September really takes the cake. Weather is nicer, lots less traffic, far more forrest whores, and you don't have to change over to your summer air in your tires right before the trip.

C'mon guys, you all know how this works. You tell me yes/no/maybe and I'll do math from there. As it sits there are 3 people going. No serious commitments, just a "yeah, i think so".

Knoxville, forget it, 102° the day we left there and headed towards Robbinsville! September sounds better temp wise. If enough people get in on it, I'll seriously consider it.

that's why you don't go in summer, late april, early may, or september/october/november, every time I've been down, temps have been comparable to new england
