Hey guys, we have a fellow motorcyclist friend in need and I am hoping some of you will be willing to help out even though he is not (yet) a NESRine/NESRite.
Those of you who are in the VT Bike Night crew and made it to bike night this summer may recall Andrew "AJ" Bosworth. Short sandy hair, earing, about 5'10" I'm guessing, good sense of humor, mid 20s, white SV650 with the custom painted gold skull on it. Usually rode with Dave and myself.
For those of you who don't know AJ he is a wicked nice guy, always willing to help even if he barely knows you. He loves riding and made it down to a lot of the bike nights during the summer. Several of us in the bike night crew have been good friends with him for a long while. I personally meet AJ one night at bike night about 2 years ago. A few weeks later AJ, his friend Dan and myself ended up doing a group ride up around the island then back after one of the bike nights. Since I live right in Milton we swung by my house and AJ noticed that I was in the process of sheet-rocking the garage. I was having a lot of trouble with getting the sheet-rock on the ceiling. AJ had only just meet me but immediately offered to help. He worked on a construction crew and had plenty of equipment. The next morning bright and early he was there dropping off a sheet-rock lift, sheet-rock screw gun (the type specifically for sheet-rocking) and a bundle of strapping and screws to use for the sheet-rocking.
I tell that story so everyone understands that when I saw he is a nice guy and always willing to help out I am not just saying that. AJ had known me for a whole 2 weeks at that point and still didn't hesitate to trust me with his equipment and even go so far as to donate material and time. AJ is just like this as others that he has helped can attest.
AJ is currently in need of our help. Shortly before Christmas AJ became ill and, to make a long story short, ended up in the hospital, one step below intensive care for a condition known as Guillain-Barre Syndrome. This is a VERY serious health problem. In short the immune system attacks the nervous system. If not caught and treated in time Guillain-Barre Syndrome can cause permanent paralysis and even death. The syndrome is rare and as of yet has no known cure but can be treated to lessen and even reverse most of the affects although recovery time varies widely from person to person and the syndrome never actually goes away though the symptoms often do.
AJ was in very serious condition and was unable to move on his own due to the progression of this syndrome in his body. He is currently slowly but surely recovering however doctors say he will be another couple of weeks before he is able to be released. AJ had just started two new jobs and had not yet received health insurance. Due to this the hospital costs, and costs from being unable to work have been staggering for him and his girlfriend.
We are planning on doing a fund raiser towards the end of this month. Details are still being worked out but there will be raffles, donation boxes etc to help raise money. We are asking anyone that is willing to donate money or prizes to please help out.
I have created a PayPal link for monetary donations. If you have a raffle donation or would prefer to donate by cash or check please see myself or Bill 'Motofreak'.
The tentative date for the fund raising event is January 30th.
To donate via paypal or for a flyer please go HERE
Please keep AJ, his girlfriend Sara and his family who have been at the hospital with him non stop in your thoughts and prayers.
If you have any questions or would like to help feel free to PM me.
Thanks Everyone!
-Jason

Sent a small donation to try to get the ball rolling. I'll try to find stuff to donate, but I'm not sure that I'm going to be able to find anything.
DRUNKATHON JAN 30th! Be there!
I have a few items to raffle. Let me check my sources for other prizes.

We should try to set a goal for donating money...say 10k or so. Someone should keep a running tally of the pay pal account...??

yep, we did set a 3k goal for now, if we go higher then we can def bump it up. I am trying to get the stupid widget to work so we can keep track of where we are at but the stupid widget builder in paypal keeps crashing out on me. I will try to have that up by tonight.
Oh, and if we want to shoot for 10k then great, let's do it![]()
Lets keep reasonable goals.![]()

He's talking about doc planning.a drunkathon with two weeks notice. Tight timescale is asking for a low turnout I'm afraid.Originally Posted by SV650N

yeah, it is, unfortunately we are going to have to make due with what we can. They are def in an immediate need situation so hey, we'll do what we can and see how it turns out.
The VT crew up here has been aware of the situation and tentatively planning for this night for about 2 weeks now, things are just starting to fall into place though. If either of you have any ideas or suggestions that you think might be useful please drop me or doc a PM as we would love to hear from you.
Thanks!
Thank you to everyone who has donated and thank you in advance to those who will donate. Someone suggested we make a donation 'meter' so I went ahead and did that. It seems to work fine but as there weren't any good free ones available I had to write my own and interfacing with paypal is a drag so it may sometimes take a while to update. Rest assured, the donations are making it in though![]()
Over 15% of the way there!!!
For those at the VT bike night tomorrow, see you then!

sent what i could. always sad to hear.
As much as this is sad to hear, I cannot say enough about the community of generous and giving individuals on this forum, and in Vermont. As a co-founder for the VT Bike Night, I take a lot of pride in the community that we have built in the state, and how that has also been a part of growing the NESR Community as well.
We are so blessed to have such a group of people who are ready and willing, most of the time without even knowing the individual, to donate their hard earned money/resources to such an important cause.
From me, and the VT Bike Night Crew, thank you guys and gals for your generosity, and thank you Jason for doing this for AJ.
Donation sent.
