i have been talking about riding to alaska and back for some time now. i have a good friend in anchorage to stay with, and a job that will allow me to take whatever time i want off (granted no pay during that period). i figure it will be about 850 bucks in gas both ways, since gas goes up after leaving the states. food and camping, cheap. anyways, i thought i would post this to see if anyone else feels like dropping what they are doing and taking what is probably one of the most epic rides you can possibly do.
cheers

I was on vacation all last month (32 days) !! I would have totally gone if it was then!!

i got a reply from my friend up there and it turns out he is coming back to mass for 2 weeks during august, so, exactly when i planned on being up there. perhaps i can post pone it til september, but i think things start to get cold again by the end of august? still, the idea of camping out in the yukon alone scares the crap out of me, unless i can take a shotgun in my tankbag.
Just GO!!! The concept is to rough it. It's something I've been itching to do for years...in addition to an offroad tour of baja. have you checked out advrider.com? there are some awesome threads on alaska tours with incredible photo journals
