Anyone else in the Berkshires go riding ocassionally? I don't know that many routes yet as this is my first season. But Route 2 heading East over the mountain can be fun.
It just seems like there are way too many cruisers out here.
Nope, don't know of any around here.![]()
Pick up a Rubel Bikemap -- the Western Massachusetts version. You can find them in some stores locally, or order online. Some of the typical roads that have some nice sections are the state roads, RT2, RT8A, RT112, RT116. Use the map to explore and you'll find some great riding to make note of.

I do that ride at least twice a year...I love 2 just over the MA border.
Usually like 300 mi rt for me.

Yes route 2 over that mountain is alot of fun, there are some good twisties on the way down. Its also nice to feel the temperature differences that happen so fast. I'm sure during the summer, the cooler air ontop of the mountain will be quite welcome.
My main destination when I ride *IS* the Berkshires. Route 2 is close to Springfield, but I prefer to get there by route 9 or 116 starting in Northampton. Also, try to go on Mount Greylock....lol....lots of twisties, with hills....I absolutly ADORE route 8A....I need to try some VT roads this season. If anyone is riding the Berkshires this season, make sure to give us a shout!!!

I live in Cheshire, in the foothills of Greylock, in fact you can see the mountain from my house. As I'm pretty new to biking, I'd love to meet some bikers.
