Poker Tournament

Hey guys,

I plan on organizing a poker tournament for us here on the board. I figure we could give some of the proceeds to a charitable motorcycle organization. I was wondering who may be up for this and what organizations you may recommend. I don't plan on going completely formal with this, I just want to put something together thats fun, and that will benefit somebody. Just seeing what kind of interest there may be and any input.

Poker eh? I'd be all for it! How about some NESR prizes such as decals and such for the winners while the proceeds go to an organization of our choice?

I was thinking $20 buy in, blinds start at $.25/$.50? It's more about having a good time and making a decent donation. If prizes get donated then all proceeds can go to the cause, otherwise I was thinking a 50/50 split.

If well organized, and well attended, I'd be willing to throw in some prizes such as $50 and $100 off gift certificates toward track days.

Texas Hold 'Em style.

I was waiting to see how many people we may have before looking into a location. In addition to space, cost will play a good factor also.

Also... not to dis any charities... but how about putting the money into a "fund" that can be used to help board members that get injured?

A small committee could be designated to govern any disbursements... probably the board owners?

I love poker, however I'm not positive I would be driving 4 hours for a game.

I'm all up for a NESR fund, maybe put it in the form of a bond so its liquid and gains interest. Hopefully it will have the time to reach a full maturity date, however I don't think its likely.

I'd be in but I probably wouldn't drive more than a couple of hours (unless it's late enough in the spring that I could ride...)
