Achievement Award of the week Goes to Bruce -Mycirus! (AKA King Pimp Daddy)
Runners up for his award was Clayton and myself after our run in with an entrapment set up by a State Trooper in a Silver Rav4.
Our week started out with rain for the first 3 days but we were still out riding, just not as enjoyable, this also caused for late starts as we were figureing routes based on radar of where we would be best to avoid the rain. Unfortunately the rain seemed to follow us those 3 days. Wednesday thru Friday were good days for riding thankfully.
Both my bikes served their duties while down here. Falco was rain day and long ride duty, SV650 was Dragon and any route that involved super twisty roads day! Both provided an enjoyable riding trip!
During our trip we saw a few bikes go down, one of our own unfortunately got biten by the Dragon. Luckily he had gear on and walked away with minor road rash on his leg. Bike was back together that night thanks to Wheelers having the right front brake lever, I loaaned him a directional and wiring tools and supplies to get him going! Some Harley dude was pissed that his mirror didn't break! One of the funiest things on the trip.
Also saw a Harley lock up the rear tire in a tight left hand turn going from the Dragon down to Fugitive Dam/Bridge. Apparently he doesn't use his front brakes, not was he wearing gear. Bike went sideways going down hill, caught and flipped over upside down going down the hill and highsided the rider clear off. Rider had road rash on his elbow, forearm and hand. (Ahis jacket, and gloves were in his rear bag. (Back Box)
Big thanks to Bruce for letting everyone put thier junk in his back box al week. ( I did not partake in anything to do with the King Pimp Daddy's Back box)

No not our best all around trip. I like years past when we all took turns making dinners. This year that attempt FAILED. But your steak and pasta dinners were good Clay!
Learn to cook you fools... & I Don't like being the neat one and cleaning up the kitchen after you slobs. Besides that and the rain days I still enjoyed the trip, the razing (Even towards me) Never leave duck tape to go to waste... Even found some more on the SV on the way home Sat night..
Hopefully the next trip I will have a more comfortable bike and be willing to do much better/longer trips like years past. I liked the breaks for a swim on the hot days, made for a relaxing enjoyable riding vacation. Next time no more rain either...

So you guys rented a house? Any tips on that kind of thing? How'd you find it? What's a week's rental run?
Yes we have always rented from the same people they have three houses that are kept up very well and very convienent to ride this area! & a quick 15 minute ride to the dragon. They are the owners/Operators of the Tail of the Dragon store/website. Great people that are also riders!
Here is the link to their houses and site. http://www.thetreetops.com/
Works out to be very cheap for a group to go, plus you have a full kitchen for making all of your meals, Houses all have garages to store the bikes that is locked up! Not to mention hot tubs, pool tables, grill etc...

It was a great time. Ox was right. Our 447 mile ride to the triangle was the best day. Good times.

I wasn't in any shape to be doing a 500 mile day on Friday, good roads or not. Especially when you guys didn't leave until noon.
Next time....

hey im female and I didn't have any problems. but yea $35 for a night in a house is cool. At DGMR it would probably be about $15 though.
I never mind the noise when Im up there.
Mostly we stay at Fontana Village Resort which is...quiet down Hellbender, over the bridge and right at the Pit Stop. Its a full on resort with a general store (that actually sells beer, not cheap but its a dry county so its beer), 2 pools, massage, 2 restaurants, bar, horseback riding, etc
We always got a cabin so there was a kitchen, etc.

Its a little more pricey but again, its pretty convenient. The use to have a DragonSlayer discount. You can ask about that. I have a rally up there to raise $ for Domestic Violence. I talked to Steph and I think we're going to schedule the same time as WSBR next year but we get a discount on the lodge rooms and several cabins. The WSBR stayed at DGMR this year.

Next year we should do it the third week of September. It was still pretty busy down there this trip. Should be a bit nicer then.

I agree Clay, first time I went, that's where I stayed, Ron Johnson's the man, I figure with the number of peeps we had the times I went, the cost was $17-$19/ nite, costs for total trip, room, gas, eats, about $400-$500 for the week, about 4500 miles of riding

I'm Game for that week Clay. I am also up for most of all of that route Oxx and Bruce took as long as a 8AM start happens and take a quicker route to get up to the good roads.
Alilyoyo you should get a group to go the same week and we can rent two houses. Or just have enough for one house is fine too.
NHbubba I too am a slow middle aged rider.. Our speeds are a lot lower these days. I no longer like living on the edge riding the street. Track is a little different...

Extra slow, fat, middle aged rider checking in. I even crashed and they didn't send me home. Hahaha!
Crash sounds unpleasant. Hope not too bad.
Not too bad, lowsided on the dragon, trashed some Icon overpants and A* gloves, bent my fairing support, clip on, and rear brake pedal, broke off the blinker, front brake lever, bar end and brake reservoir. Mostly slid on the frame slider and exhaust. Got it back on the road by scavenging some parts from Mike, buying some parts from Wheelers, and professionally installing a bunch of zip ties. Oh and Bruce was kind enough to "do bodywork" for me by covering all my damage with duct tape, its a 10' job, haha:

Ha ha.. That tape actually matches nicely.
+10 for no permanent injuries.
tape actually came in pretty handy on day 2. the side plate on my Arai broke while we were out. peeled a piece or 2 and fixed it![]()
