I spent a bit of change on this bike, and therefore will be following the guidelines set by Ducati for my break-in, not some guy that has a website. I could make a website that promotes eating your own bodily waste as a healthy diet, and since its online, it must be true.Originally posted by lefty954

Breaking in a Duc has a lot to do with valve-seating which, even with proper break-in can still be a problem. Also, failure to follow the break-in procedures outlined in the owners manual voids any warranty covering engine defects/ problems according to the statement of warranty from the manufacturer. I don't know if you've ever priced out parts for these bikes, but I can assure you they aren't cheap.
no...it's not like the bike company is going to tell you to go out full throttle and seat the rings....i mean what if you crashed and got hurt or killed? there would be giant lawsuits .they protect themselves. today's bikes are so finely machened it's unreal.
I will be following the guide lines of Ducati for breakin. The engineers that designed the engine most certianly had input as to how the engine should be broken in to maximize it's well being and performance.Originally posted by A996S

I'm and engineer and I have the same type of input with my designs.

Not to continue the hijack...
I do think the 'like you stole it' works, but if it were my bike... I'd follow the manual![]()

RIP A.B. RIP BEET, I Ride in Leathers because I would rather sweat than Bleed...
If they were wearing gear like us sport bike riders, it wouldn't have even made any sort of news, but thats not cool when you're on a Harley. But thats a good heads-up anyway.Originally posted by KevinB

Not that there is a great chance that I can make this ride, but at approximately what time will this ride terminate?
I haven't had the opportunity to ride out that way very much and am always looking to try something new.

How the hell do you lock up the rear for 89 feet and then dump the bike and slide for another 86 feet! That's gotta be a long enough distance to stop that bike from close to it's top speed!
- Not on the highway
- Harley
- Two up
Makes me want to think his speed had to be 50mph or lower... bike probably should have been able to stop in 60ft or something.
