I've heard good things about this stretch of road. Weather looks like crap for monday, but any up for doing a little Berkshire riding Tuesday evening, barring terrible weather/locust swarms? Cant guarantee a start time, but I'll likely start from Greenfield, head out rt. 2 through N. Adams and take 8 or 7 south to 20, and then probably ride 20 back towards Westfield. Depending on time/weather, then likely loop back up through following 112 and probably a run down 116.
Any interest? I could always do it backwards and meet some of you down by the pike or there abouts. Not looking for an insane pace. I dont need to lose my motorcycle endorsement before even getting it, so likely will stay within reasonable speeds.![]()
I am planning on hitting this up Wed during the day if you want to meet up let me know

How late in the day? I already treated myself to a day off to go riding last week, but if you're starting sometime in the afternoon, I may be able to get out early enough to meet you.![]()

Yeah, I decided not to, not until I get my license and can take a route through southern, NH or thereabouts. I did my first highway riding on saturday, and frankly I thought it sucked balls, so I'm going to try to avoid slabbing.![]()
I see... you don't have your Lic. yet??But then again you have a bike and I don't..But I do have my LIC.

I forgot to prepay at the registry, so they lost my certificate in the mail, they are sending a duplicate in the mail this week, so its been almost 3 weeks and I'm still legally incapable of leaving the state!I hope to get it by Friday so I can at least get my paper license and take some 500 mile day ride up into VT that I found on another board.

MA is so messed up..After my rider class( which was held behind the DMV in Concord) they took us to get our Lic. that day. If you passed that is...I already held one , so I didn't need to get a new one..Now I realize why I live in NH.Originally posted by JeffL

The road (rt 20) between 91 and NY State isn't all that great, there is only one couple mile section that is worth it. Otherwise, from westfield to just before becket is crap road conditions, then it gets pretty flat into Lee toward NY state
just giving ya a heads up
Yeah, I looked at the route on Google Earth and doesnt seem all that interesting. Time-wise it wasnt going to work anyways. If weather holds out I may end up making a loop of 116 to 112 to 9, to 8a to 2 and from there, time pending maybe hit 8a in Heath on my way home.![]()
Screw you guys, I banged out another 130 miles this evening by myself.
Did 2 west to 112 through Ashfield and Goshen, 9 west out towards Dalton. 9 is awesome. If it wasnt my first time riding it, and I knew what kind of police presence there is out there, I could have had alot more fun.I didnt count, but there has to be at least 25-30 long sweepers that you could easily do at *well* above the speed limit.
I got off 9 in Windsor and went north on 8a through Plainfield and Hawley and got back on 2 in Charlemont. Stopped for gas and a drink in Charlemont and ran up 2 through the fun stuff in Savoy. Took a backroad down into Monroe, crossed the river, took more fun curvy roads in Monroe and Rowe and came home through Colrain and Leyden.

If you are ever near rt69 or rt 72 in CT. they are short (7-10 mile each) but worth the ride.![]()
