It was a bit chilly coming home from work last night.
I found my limit (without heated gear) is 32 degress.
Any one else?
I have ridden in the low 20's w/o heated gear and the only thing i could really bitch about was the gloves I had were fall leathers I should-a broke out the ski gloves. As long as there is no freezing run off ( water or sand ) I will ride

Saturday: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 47. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Will have my son the next 2 weekends, so I think my riding season is just about over.

I don't leave the house if it's less than 25°f. I have DualStar heated grips and that's it.Regards, Jake

normally 30's is the lowest i'll go before it becomes a safety issue imo. But that is with a fully faired bike, with my naked sv 40's is alreadying becoming a chore. I'm gonna try and get a buell flyscreen.

A little chilly this morning, but I was late so outta bed dressed on the bike no coffe or breakfast to keep me warm. The ride home at 3.30 was very tolerable other than the glare.
No heated stuff just a lot of layers.
I'll do cold, I'll do wet but dont do cold and wet.
as far as temps I'm not sure as this is my first winter with a bike in the US, I'm hoping I can do the same as England, no snow, ice or salt and I'll be out
Considering I dont have any winter riding gear, anything lower then 45 is my current limit.
it was a little chilly when i got home tonight, 28 degrees, 1 hour ride home with no heated gear. Toes are a bit cold and my neck is really cold. other than that i will continue to ride
I've got an sv1000 round headlight on my zrx with the holeshot flyscreen. Makes a huge difference in air flow, better than the stock mini-fairing. My TLS is totally nekkid and sucks below 40°f. Regards, JakeOriginally posted by duey

If you look down, you go down. That may be fun at an orgy, but it sucks on a bike
Five below, wearing just one thremal shirt, one riding jersey, and a coat over my gear. Even at that temp you still sweat racing off road.
so far, coldest I have ventured out for more than a half mile is -12°F when I started and prolly warmed up to 5 below by the time I finished, a 100mile± loop around Lake Winnipesaukee
it would have been closer to -25 when I started, but it took me an hour to get my bike started, even with the battery on a tinder overnite, it could not turn the engine fase enuf to start, I had to preheat my bike with my salamander heater for a half hour, after I preheated my salamander a while with a propane torch
once started, running and warmed up, throttle response is crisp and quick,
, but once you get to 65-70 mph
the cold pierces your helmet & balaclava, and you roll off the throttle quickly, and find out that engine braking will make your rear hockey puck skid around a bit

.....back in 1980 when i was on my honeymoon trip, we had a 1977 gl1000 "wing",with a plexiglass fairing, i think it was called a "silouette",...anyway we were in yellowstone in late sept, we got caught there when it snowed, we had to stay until the snow was melted off the road for a day or two...from yellowstone, we headed towards "butte" montana, and we camped at a state park called the eagles nest (i think)....anyway that night the temp plummeted to like 10 degrees, the puddles had frozen over....it was some cold riding...we had about everything we owned on, including rain gear to cut the wind a little....we rode in cold weather for a day or two,and by the time we hit idaho it started to get milder......thats about the coldest i ever had to ride in.
ps.....we were on the road for almost 2 months,no motels

the coldest I've been out was -14 with the wind chill factor. who knows what it was on the bike. freaking weather dudes called a bad one last night. i got "stranded" at work. i don't leave till 7 PM and there was a good coating on the roads. it's the light coating that'll get ya. I've ridden in 4" of snow before. that's when the ice racing skills came in handy.
can't we all just get along? the snake. ssssss!
41 in Arizona.
Oh you meant what is the lowest I would EVER ride in... 55.

So in theory, based on the "wind chill chart" how cold you feel as you are cutting through the air on a bike is based on actual air temp and how fast your are going in mph equals winds. But only on exposed skin.

In sunny weather, I rode in weather in the teens during the day last March. No heated gear, just layed up under the leathers. Only thing I had a problem with was my hands getting cold, but that was a matter of every 45 minutes or so, but nothing pulling over and grabbing the exhaust pipe for 2 minutes couldnt fix.![]()
I know a little about everything, and alot about nothing.
it was about 10° yesterday when I rode my Strom to the dealer to drop it off for first service

I'd say about 10-15 is the coldest I've been in.
I'm getting sick of not riding. I may have to layer up and start tacking some miles on. Maybe heated grips if I can find them cheap.
It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?
