In the debauchery that was this weekend, I vaguely remember someone mentioning a trip to Montreal.![]()
I have no idea when it was, but anyone up for a 4th of July weekend trip? Figure there wont be quite the crowd there since they don't celebrate all that independence nonsense. If no, anyone have any recommendations on lodging and places to go up there? (aka, where is the best place to play poker?
) Good excuse to grab a couple cuban cigars, no?

By the way, July 1st is the Canada day...gee I lived there all my life can't remember the name for that holiday...anyway, it's a big day for the country, just like Independance day here.

Talk has been going around about a Monteal trip. Who was talking about it? Myself and a Cousin were talking about something soon, that weekend will be busy up there! It's good and bad news... Good news is the party scene will be very lively, bad part is hotels will be getting booked up fast and the prices go up!
I get in too much trouble when I go up there, I may or may not be up for this.. I'll think about it...

Another AWSOME attraction is the Montreal competition of fireworks. Teams from all over the world compete to win for the best fireworks. It is BEAUTIFUL. They usually have presentations every week during summer time. Check out their schedule:

Here are some pictures of them...awsome.

KB, Jenn, and I have been talking about it for a long time. I'm out in july. MotoGP that week.
It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?
I am very much in favor of this plan, seeing as I'll be in Quebec the week of June 25th on business anyway. Were you planning on riding up, or caravaning? I'm going up with a group of people, so I'm thinking of towing up my bike and then riding it back.
Keep me informed, I've been to montreal many times but always on business, would be cool to see the "fun" side of the city![]()
As a matter of fact, I was just talking about going to Canada!! How about August????Originally posted by hessogood

I was thinking of riding up, since I wasn't planning on doing too much riding up there...

Yesssssssssssssss riding up is the plan!!!! The scenic route of course.![]()
Cool deal. If this actually ends up happening that weekend, let me know and I'll see about getting the wheels back on my trailer. I figure it'll get better gas mileage that way, which is important because gas is expensive as shit up there.Originally posted by darkchylde51

If you all decide to do a run up there, and want a tour guide or two, Nikon and I are most familiar with the "more exciting" aspects of Montreal. (Read: Ste. Catherins Street)
If you plan to ride up, plan for the last hour or so to be exceptionally boring - the land south of Montreal is basically flatter than piss on a plate.
I'm all for riding up, but wouldn't feel too comfortable with the bikes being left alone while we are out at night. I have heard the city has a high theft rate. We would have to stay in a more expensive hotel that has their own garage with security/survalence system.. Plus chain the hell of all the bikes together....
Not too mention the ride home with a hangover...![]()

My wife grew up in Montreal and weve got tons of friends there. If needed I could probably hook up a garage at one of houses in a nice resedential area - it would just mean not planning to do much riding while being there.Originally posted by Half Squid

Let me suggest that you rent a chalet for the weekend instead of paying astronomic prces for hotels rooms. When we did our ride to Montreal, we rented those 2 chalets for the whole gang: http://www3.sympatico.ca/memories1/balcon.htm The pics don't do justice at all, by the way.
It was very comfortable, cheap, you have access to a few lakes, there is good riding in the moutains to be done, the night life in Mont-Tremblant is real nice and "hip" (if you go to the ski/mountain resort just a few minutes away). And it's close to Montreal. There is also an inground pool at the first chalet and it is...VERY private.![]()

August for me too! Don't worry Mike the bikes will be secured. We can call a garage up there and work out the details before hand

So it doesn't look like this is going to happen July 4th weekend...which is good, because it looks like I'll be heading up to camp the week of 7/3 to 7/9, so I'd be out.
This should definitely happen though, we've been talking about a montreal trip for years now but it never seems to get off the ground...
Wahoo I can legally drink in Canada!!

Last year I did excatly this trip, went two up to montreal for the 4th. I could be intrested in doing so, solo, again.
There was one 2 years ago...about 6 bikes joined in, and we rented 2 chalets...but most people were not interested.......(just to say that it HAS been done, that's all)
