Re: Mt Washington this summer
Tell me about a possible 13th plan? We are considering leaving the 12th in the afternoon so we could be up there by nightfall and stay over but it costs us a day of travel potentially. If a sunrise ride in the cards that could be great. We could see that and travel on to Quebec afterwards.

If you're referring to the Mt. Washington Auto Road Sunrise Drive, they only do that a couple times a year. Likewise with their Sunset Drives.

Oh crap. I thought it was all the time. Hmm.

Ironically it looks like the 13th is between both the sunrise drive and the sunset drive (each are different dates).

Re: Mt Washington this summer
I think the wife and I are going to camp for two or three nights. We could leave on the 12th and get up there and do the auto road on the 13th. We can also bump everything up one day where we leave on Monday the 13th, and ride the auto road the 14th. We're kinda flexible.
Looking at camping now. Crawford Notch looks like it will be it, but checking further.

Re: Mt Washington this summer
The 12th works good for us. We can camp overnight and hit the road in the morning then move up to Quebec afterwards. Camp the night on ile d'orleans tand see the waterfalls then move to Montreal.

Re: Mt Washington this summer
Thanks Timmy. We're booked at crawford notch already. This is our first time moto camping and I want to see how everything goes packing and equipment wise. Hoping to take my kid out this year and want a trial with just adults first.

No worries, I get it .
It’s barely camping with all the amenities there .
Children do love the pools though , sort of like a Great Wolf Lodge .

Re: Mt Washington this summer
I just put in for time off on 7/13 and 7/14. I'll keep an eye on the thread for a consensus on the date.
I might spend the night at my mom's house in Wolfeboro. Anyone want to meet up in W-boro for the ride to the mountain?
-
Re: Mt Washington this summer
What day and time would you be going up to the mountain? We are going to camp overnight on the 12th in the area. Doesn't necessarily mean at my Washington. We do need to be there on the 13th relatively early to have enough time to get to Quebec afterwards so ideally get off the mountain around noon and on our way.
It's just two of confirmed in my little group so far. Anyone is welcome to join us for any part of the trip.

Definitely, I'll be passing through anyway! Just waiting on a solid date & time. I can potentially do either Monday or Tuesday (13th or 14th), just gotta nail the date down.

Re: Mt Washington this summer
Current plan is for me to be up in Maine all that week, less than an hour from the auto road.
-
Re: Mt Washington this summer
Following this. I also will be up in Maine that weekend about an hour away and may take a couple days off and ride over.
-
Re: Mt Washington this summer
Just firmed up our child care. We will be up at dry river campground on Sunday the 12th. Have to leave Wednesday the 15th before noon. So have Monday and Tuesday free to get to the top of the rock pile. Doesnt matter to me which day. I'd say whichever day looks to have better weather.

Re: Mt Washington this summer
Have you been to that campsite before? We are still looking for a spot for the night. We want to be close by the mountain so we can hit it in the morning then scoot up north. Our plans have changed and we are now going to do part of the trans Quebec trail system rather than hit Montreal so we have more time in the area
-
Re: Mt Washington this summer
Never been there. I just booked it because its got showers and flush toilets and was close to the mountain.
-
Re: Mt Washington this summer
Nice. We may do the same then.
-
Re: Mt Washington this summer
We grabbed the last spot at dry River for Sunday night. Reviews say it's the worst spot but beggars can't be choosers.
-
Re: Mt Washington this summer
Were in spot 2 which I guess is close to the road, but also the showers and bathrooms. I'm sure there is room for two tents in our area if you want to set up with us. Not sure what the rules are but I imagine theyre flexible.
-
Re: Mt Washington this summer
We are in spot 3 so near you I guess. Review and site notes say it's a walking in spot and the parking for it is a bit aways. Maybe that won't matter with bikes. If it look sketchy we may take you up on your offer.

Re: Mt Washington this summer
What part of Maine will you be in? I'll be in the naples/bridgeton/harreson area. Possible we could link up and ride over together.
-
Re: Mt Washington this summer
Just bumping this up. Do we know yet what the consensus is? I'd like to start keeping an eye on my schedule.
-
Re: Mt Washington this summer
For me im going to be heading out of dry river sometime Monday morning and heading to the autoroad which is about 45 .minutes away. We are a bit flexible on time but really need to be off the mountain by noon so we can get to our next camp site and still have light left to set up. We are heading north up.110\3 to the Canada border.

Re: Mt Washington this summer
We will be camping at dry river Sunday the 12th through Wednesday the 15th. I can't make the auto road on Sunday. Was planning on Monday or Tuesday. Dont care if we do it either of those days. Probably will be weather dependent.
