    Mt Washington this summer

I'd like to do the Mt. Washington auto road. From my front door to the top it looks like 5 hours. My availability in July is pretty good in terms of finding a day with good weather. I'd be willing to leave CT at like 3:30-4am, or ride up to NH and crash in a cheap hotel either the night before, then ride home, or the night after and leave in the morning. Riding home same day is a possibility too depending on how much time we/ I spend at the top.

Anyways, I'm wide open to input on where to stay or if anyone else wants to join up. Same with time frames that are good. Only thing I'd like to see is doing it on a weekday to deal with less traffic.

I could be down depending on the day.
You might want to consider doing it in early July. The rally hill climb is at the beginning of August and I don't know how much they can interfere with normal operations in the weeks leading up to it. The closer you get to the race weekend might make it harder to get up the road with prepping going on

The auto road is open as normal except for during the event itself. There really isn't any road prep or things that will interfere with the drive up.
Even during practice days (Fri+Sat), the auto road is open in the afternoon for the public (after about 1pm).

Okay...avoid the week of July 4th like the plague.

Also, yeah - it's now paved from bottom to top. Kinda took a lot of the fun out of it.

If you don't mind drinking, smoking, foul loud language and basic asshattery, you'd likely be welcome to crash at our place the night before. Well, if we're still even around. Which I'm pretty sure we will still be...

    Re: Mt Washington this summer

4th of July weekend is out.

    I could do the
    8-10
    12-14
    16-18
    20-22 of July.

Can't do much in August. Were in florida for the first half, then it's back to school for everyone else in my house.

That's basically every shift at the firehouse, minus the drinking. So no real change there for me.

We could do 12 -14 ish. We are planning a trip up to the Quebec waterfalls those days and it's easy enough to change the route a bit.

I would highly suggest doing it as late in July as you possibly can. It gets annoyingly busy from Memorial Day until Labor Day. It also helps TREMENDOUSLY if you can do it on a weekday. Even a Friday or a Monday. Summer weekends just suck.

Although, people aren't as pussy-like now that the entire road is paved...

I should probably point out that our house has had a very strange effect on people over the years. Seems the first couple times they stay, they're a complete wreck the next day. I don't know what it is exactly, but it's been a phenomenon for years. Just ask around...

Mt Washington sounds like a great ride.

Figuring out a date sooner than later would be nice .

Add John Boy and I to the confirmed riders list should one get started .

I would consider July 19 for the Sunrise ride. I did this in 2020 COVID ride and it was probably the #1 ride I have done in all my years of riding. (close to 50)
you can air BNB a house and have a shorter ride to the auto road or do I like I did and ride all night/morning and get there at 4:30 am when the open.

Josh and I caged it up a couple years ago for one of their sunrise things. Absolutely incredible.

Any updates on this? We are planning our Canadian trip and adding this in would be great. Our trip is open invite to anyone and we have some ability to change it around right now. Planning on taking back roads from Worcester area up to montreal then taking a northern route along the saint laurance river to Quebec then down to Mt Washington at the tail end of the trip. We could make it the begining of the trip if the timing works out better. Probably spread out over 3 or 4 days of camping\hotels.

July 13 and 14 work best for me. I have some flexibility though, if a group of people want to make this a small event.

Do you have a rough time frame for this trip?

There's a decent chance I can make the 13th work. At that point, it'll all hinge on the home sale and clearing out.

Actually, as it stands let's just say I'm down for the 13th. With the caveat that we may be knee deep in vacating our house/relocating, in which case...well...

We're inching closer. I'm still on July 13th (Monday). Not to sound like a broken record, but we may be in the middle of selling/relocating/moving shit. So don't let me sway any plans.
