Mike - any idea how long it takes to get there? Im hoping to be able to make it, but I need to know how long it ill take to get there so I have an idea about when I can be back in boston.Originally posted by Half Squid
[B]My teather is done! Who's going uo when tomorrow?
I can can get out of work anywhere from 3:30 - 5 and I'll be riding up.
Also when does it usually end, or when do you expect to be back on the road to home?
Thanks
Manny
I managed to get a custom made tether up and running! I slightly modified the internals of the kill switch to allow a cord to connect to it. From the outside it looks stock!
Kill switch before:
First I disassembled the switch which took all of 5 minutes. I then drilled 2 small holes in the top of the switch and fed through a couple loops of 65lbs test fishing line. The line is teflon impregnated so it is highly abrasion resistant which is perfect for this impromptu switch:
A slightly further out shot. At the bottom of the kill switch/starter housing, there is a hole to drain out water. It is a perfect location to bring the line out:
And a final shot of the switch put back together. Everything works perfectly:

Bill nice work on the kill switch teather!
Manny, I am not exactly sure how long it will take to get there tonight? I would have to guess just over an hour??
I am leaving from work by 4 in westboro if you or anyone cares to follow me. It might be faster for you coming from Boston to just head up 95N. I have yet to check out the site and get directions......
Who's on the list?
Definates So far looks like:

i'm definite.. but i'll just be spectating. i'll be leaving directly from waltham at 5:30pm if anyone wants to meet up.
Mike, are you going to be riding past Lowell? If you are, I can meet meet you somewhere along 495 and we can head up together. I'm planning on taking 93N to 101. It's a slab but it will get me there the quickest.
495 Yup ! I'll be in the Lowell area around 4:45-5Originally posted by ZX-12R

Do you know where the Post Office is right next to the Tsongas arena in downtown Lowell? I'm suggesting we meet there because I know a few back roads that get get us around the congestion of Rt. 93 going from 4 lanes down to 2 at the border of NH. I pretty much take Rt. 38N to 111A which dumps me onto 93N at exit 2 in NH thus avoiding the clusterfuck.
so who's gonna be the first to stall out at the tree?![]()
Drag way results...
best time was 11.94 @ 119
Best part of the night...
I BEAT MIKE!

I didn't stall, but I had a blast!. It was also my first night ever drag racing.
Pass #1: Burnout - big wheelie - R/T .964 - 11.010 @ 130.15 mph
Pass #2: No Burnout - no wheelie - R/T .971 - 10.899 @ 133.42 mph
Pass #3: No Burnout - no wheelie - R/T .854 - 10.779 @ 133.82
Pass #4: Burnout - major wheelie in 1st, also wheelied in 2nd and 3rd, hit limiter in 2nd while paying more attention to keeping my front wheel down - R/T .841 - 11.041 @ 131.81
4 things I've learned:
1. My bike alone is responsible for my times. There is huge room for improvement in my hole shot. The bike is capable of quite a bit more. I have a lot of practicing to do!
2. My reaction time sucks...
3. Hot tire + very sticky surface + inexperienced dragracer = Huge wheelies.
4. Half Squidly likes to wheelie too!
I'll definitely be going again in the near future. That was way too much fun!
Mike, did you intend to follow us East on 101 towards 95?
Congrats on your times. It is ver addicting and the more you race the better. i will have to make a teather for mine next.
Good to see you guys..Glad to hear that Oreo beat the Squid...LOL ANd I got some good pics..There coming soon..I sent them off to Mike..I guess if he ever makes it home, maybe he will post them..Got his wheely too...![]()

I was glad to see everybody. I hope to be back on a bike soon.

Hey What RPMS's were you guys dropping the clutch on the hloeshot?
Its hard to get everything right for a good holeshot, but when you do get a good holeshot the bike just shoots out!
My CBR 600 I usually bring the RPMS's to 10K then when the flag goes I drop the clutch and hold on and lean forward.
I wanna do one of these drag nights for practice.
Sounds like you guys had fun and ran some good times

I was hovering around 5K for the hole shot. I don't have the balls to just dump the clutch on the 12R yet. Even at 5K it was extremely hard to keep the front end down.
Front end down?? Oh ,thats right no wheelie for you...LOLOriginally posted by ZX-12R

he lifted the front wheel on a couple launches.. it's just that he didn't ride it halfway down the track like Mike.
btw, nice to meet you guys last night. next time around i think i'm definitely going to race.
Oh yeah, if anyone else plans on going to NE dragway for a street night event, PM myself or Half Squid about what needs to be done in order to race.
The fucktards in the tech booth ran the two of us through all kinds of rediculous hoops for trivial shit that they don't tell you about on their website. We could have gotten another pass in had we not been stuck in tech for so damn long.
Also, they decided to have a burn out competition in the middle of the evening that took away even more of our time on the track. I swear the people running the dragway are not the brightest people on Earth.
Was it just you two that they gave a hard time to?? And I do think that the burnout thing was a waste of time. If its that busy on a Wed. , I wouldn't want to see what it what its like on a Friday..???

Bump909 and Half thanks for the call!!!!
I'm 20 frikin minutes from there. Call a kid once in a while. I guess maybe I'll have to get the inta-net again at the house???
KB
dude, get the internet.. you're like a friggin' manchild. i'll call you next time we go, okay?![]()
If you guys go back again this month or next I will go back.
What are the requirements for the tether? My VFR should be slower then all of you guys... you think they'll let me get away without a tether? In good hands the bike is only supposed to be capable of around 11.25 or so.
What else did they grill you over on the tech side?
Someone went from Waltham... how long did it take? I'm in Burlington now for work so it is a hell of a lot easier then Natick, but still last time I went it took me a looong time to ride up there after work.
Ben
Oh I beat Oreo reaction time, hole shot, and to the finish line..... That all is taken into consideration at a real drag race!! Time wise yes the punk did beat me, but thats it beeeoootch.. Now OX (SVRACER) beat me hands down... that fucker, and on his race SV650....![]()
Man that was FUN! My times were ok I guess, but needs a lot of improvement!
My reaction times were decent and by the fourth run my hole shot was very good!
My slips are at home with my times, hopfully I will have time to get pictures and post tiems tonight... I have been meaning to get up here and from last Sunday..

Off memory:
Best time was 12.1
Top speed was 119.?
Worst time was 12.8 ?
Worst speed was 105
Third run up against SVracer - Brian/ Aka OX I had already lost to him and had to try to redam myself... Well I gave her about 4K rpm quickly released the clutch and held on while I wheellied down the strip trying like hell to push the front end down, but did not back off on the throttle because I could see I was side by side with brian and didn't want to let off. So I rode it out and clicked second and set the front down and gave her hell only to loose yet again.![]()
Very fun, I will have to try it again on a Friday because getting up there and back on a work night was not a good thing come time for my 6AM alarm clock....![]()
I know Fridays get busy there, but I have to at last give it a try. Plus we can go out for a few afterwards!![]()
