Portland Maine Area Tag-O-Rama

The object of the game is to inspire us to ride and go find someplace new that may even be in your own back yard.

The way it works is that I'll start it off by posting a pic of my bike in front of a landmark and the first person to duplicate that pic with their bike gets to set the next "TAG" and so on.

Poplar sites to host photos include tinypic.com and imageshack.us .

Here's the rules, I've copied them from one of the ADVrider.com statewide games to keep it familiar and simple.

Alright here we go. Lets get this thing started and hopefully we start off a lot smoother than some of the others. The game is simple, the rules are easy, the goal is to get people out riding. With the goal in mind, please don't make the clues so hard that we have to surf longer on the net than we have to ride to get the tag. So here are the rules.

#1 FILE PHOTOS CAN ONLY BE USED TO PLACE A TAG NOT TO GET THE TAG.

#2 THE PHOTOS OF THE TAG SHALL BE AS CLOSE AS THE PREVIOUS TAG PHOTOS AS POSSIBLE. That means that the tagger needs to make sure that his photo can be shot be anyone on any bike. The taggers bike needs to be in the photo. So I think that if a road is government maintained and legal to ride than it is fair game. Also tell us where the tag was.

#3 NO WHINING ABOUT IT BEING TOO FAR. If you think it is too far go get it and bring it back. Trust me someone will.

#4 TAG MUST BE FINDABLE. If a tag is standing too long you will be asked to post a clue or a new tag. New tag must be posted no later than 24 hrs of the posting of your tag. You will forfeit your tag to the previous tagger. Lets keep the game moving.

#5 HE WHO POSTS FIRST WINS. It does not matter if you got to it first, He who post first wins the tag. Laptops with cell modems and smart phones really help here.

#6 PLAYING FIELD. Cumberland and York County Maine ONLY!

#7 TAG VALIDITY JUDGING. If a tag is contested then the original tagger must be the judge. If the original tagger doesn't lay justice within 24 hours of the protest, then the masses shall decide by good old voting rules over a 24 hour period.

OK I believe that that is it. So lets have fun and ride safe. All rules are subject to change if the larger part of the members think that it should change.

Only Cumberland and York County, Maine is allowed in this game of Tag-O-Rama

Rule ammendments:
3/19/10: (6) York county has been added to the territory.
4/13/10: (7) The original tagger now judges the validity of a contested tag.

This one is super easy, you should be able to find it just using the picture alone.

Great italian sandwiches and lobster rolls! If you follow the road down the hill you end up with an awesome view of the local harbor.

I agree the picture isn't the greatest but any research on the area will bring up this place. Very easy to get to and not a far ride from anywhere in the Portland area. Definitely stop in for burgers if you head to this tag.

Yessir I was. I was sittin on the porch at sebago and saw you ride by a couple times and made a comment to my roommate when I saw ya bike. Hahaha

That was one of those nights where I was just sitting around the house feeling restless... so I put the gear on and went out for a ride. Ended up going from SoPo to Brunswick on back roads, back through Cumby and Falmouth. I was only planning on doing a short ride, but I ended up doing one of my longer pleasure rides... so taking a second pass to see if it was your bike was definitely not out of my way. I almost stopped and hollered, but I was feeling anti-social that night.

That sucks. I didn't see a drop all day. Looked like rain all day while I was at work but luckily didn't get any. No time for me to ride today but hopefully someone has a tag for me by the time I get outta work tomorrow at 6:00ish.
