What is Operation Pancake?
- A good meet-up Saturday 10/1/11with a free breakfast
- A good excuse to get out of the house early
- A great way to support a great charity, Riders for Health
I am inviting all motorcyclists to make their way to the Hula Moon Cafe in Rockport, MA Saturday 10/1 for an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast at 8:30am. After you have enjoyed breakfast and shared stories of your early morning runs I will BRIEFLY ask for a donation to Riders for Health. Riders is a great organization that focuses on transportation needs for medical workers in impoverished countries. They provide bikes, supplies and training to mobilize health care professionals in Africa. They are a very effective, super efficient charity and deserve your support.
For more info see www.riders.org
or watch this short movie narrated by biker and actor Ewan McGregor

This is the second year for the event so my goal is to raise $2500. All donations go straight to Riders for Health. This isn't some poker run- police escort- wave to the kiddies- rolling traffic blockade. You and your riding buddies get to Hula Moon any way you can and we'll take care of you when you arrive. At the least, it gets you out of the house early on a Saturday to enjoy clear roads and a good breakfast.
Please write or call with any questions.
Give what you can- no pressure
Ride what you want - no heckling the cruisers
T-shirts for all participants
More details will be released next week.
If you can't make the event please consider a donation:

The Real Story:
Operation Pancake was a military operation over Bologna Italy in 1944 that had significant impact on many motorcyclists. Around 700 B-17s and B-24s, with fighter support, pounded ammunition andfuel dumps and depots, bivouac area, barracks, vehicle repair shop, munitions factory and targets of opportunity in the Bologna, Italy to support the US Fifth Army offensive in that sector.
Among those targets of opportunity was the radio and electronics factory known as Ducati S.P.A. and it was completely destroyed. After the war, Ducati rebuilt and found success with the Cucciolo, a 48cc motorized bicycle, and most of you know where the story goes from there. On Saturday October 1st at 0830 we will meet to remember Operation Pancake, eat well, and show our support for a worthy cause.
