Well I had saturday off from the girlfriend and family so I decided to take my first "long" ride on the bike. Under the directions of Jay and a look at some shitty maps I drove up to my girlfriends lake house in Maine. I went 111 to 111A to 107 to 43 to 202 to the Spaulding Turnpike to exit 18 through Milton Mills to Acton Maine route 109.
I must say my groin and my ass were not happy at the end of the ride. I stopped twice on the way up and once on the way home to stretch and pee and I was still pretty sore at the end of the day. All in all I logged 220 miles and had a lot of fun on the backroads of eastern NH and Southern Maine.

i think i put up some personal record numbers this weekend, too... over 120 Saturday, & another 120 yesterday.... but i think i did close to 300+ a couple weekends ago when i went out to Mt Snow VT & back... of course i probably had more stops than you
all i know is that in the three seasons the original owner rode the bike, he put 3780 miles on it... and in the 8 weeks since I'VE had the bike, i've put close to 3300 on it![]()

I hear a lot of good things about Gold Bond and some crap called Monkey Butt Powder or something. Earplugs are also a must for any ride over 20 miles.
Yes my ears killed after the ride! I would have a lot more miles on it if I used it on the weekends, but weekends are reserved for the lake. I will be riding it to the lake every weekend starting next weekend (assuming girlfriend doesnt bitch too much) however so its ok. I also and starting night classes tomorrow which means two less days a week to ride. I can't wait until schools starts, I get out of class at 1:30 which means plenty of time for rides after classes!

OH YEAH?
Well I've had my bike a hair over two years now, and managed to put 19K miles on it.
Just remember HBerry, people who ride an insane amount of miles usually have no lives, or have bitchy wives...

Maybe not everyone... I have a wonderful wife, a really great and full life, and a bike I've had a hair over two years with 30,000+ miles on it. I ride about 120 miles per weekday. I hardly ever ride on weekends during boating season. That said, I don't think 30,000 miles is an insane amount so maybe we are in agreement.Originally posted by Mystery Squid

Anyone else ride yesterday and today? Has anyone else commuted to work solely by bike since April 15th?
You also have a fairly long commute and you take your bike to work every dayOriginally posted by stoinkythepig

I hope that BMW rider Fred doesn't catch wind of this. He has been riding the same bike for over 30 years and when I saw him last week he had 677,000 miles on it! He's been averaging 20,000+ miles a year for over 30 years straight. He has all of his BMW award badges on his bike (100,000, 200,000, etc.) so it is legit.
I thought I rode a lot (1000-1500+ miles a month and ride 12 months a year) until I started riding with the BMW guys and gals. They do day trips to Canada and bang out 600-900 mile days like nothing. My balls about shriveled up and fell off after I hooked up with them.
However, they were still psyched that I rode through the winter down to 15 degrees on an FZ1 with no heated grips or heated clothing![]()
My feeling is that as long as you get out and have fun, the miles don't matter...
