Friends and family of late Methuen teen riding for a cure



The family and friends of 18-year-old Brett Wiegref, a Methuen man who died of Diamond BlackFan Anemia on April 29, are raising money in his honor to help find a cure for the rare disease.
The Diamond BlackFan Anemia Riding for a Cure In Memory of Brett Wiegref event will be at The Claddagh Pub & Restaurant, 399 Canal St. lawrence ma, on Sunday, Aug. 23. The rain date is Aug. 30.
Motorcycle riders will pay $20 and non-riders will pay $10, and proceeds will go to the Diamond BlackFan Anemia Foundation to pay for research. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the ride starts at 10:30 a.m. The first 100 people to register will receive T-shirts. Organizers hope to make this an annual event. People who don't ride can join the fun after the run at 12:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the door.
