So,
Just back from The Elliott Hospital for xRays on my right hand which was injured when I was separated (consciously uncoupled) from my motorcycle last Sunday riding from McCarthy to Valdez.
I rode another 4 days/1000 miles to complete what was otherwise an incredible trip through Alaska that included The Dalton Highway to Deadhorse (250 miles above the Arctic Circle), Anchorage, Fairbanks, Tangle River, Valdez, McCarthy, Whittier, Seward, Homer and Hope. 3700 awesome miles all told,
Fractured my 3rd metacarpal. They put me in a big ass wrap to immobilize it. Hope to downsize when I see the orthopedist Monday!

At this point I'm uncertain whether I'll be able to attend this ride but I thought I'd at least get started on the details!
So,
Who's in and who's rooming with whom?
(You will need to make your own reservations at the Crowne Plaza in Lake Placid for Friday and Saturday Nights!)
Dave
Cheese (room with me?)

I really did think this was not going to happen. I'm afraid I went and made other plans. I suck.
Dave,
Thinking about joining this for the first time. Share a little for a newby about daily distance, pace, etc.
Wirelessly posted (iPhone)
Steve, the average daily miles is probably about 300. The paces "entertaining". It's a good time. You ought to come!!!Originally Posted by SteveM

There are so many great roads in that area. If I wasn't already doing Blue Ridge Pkwy I'd come along. Love the Daks!

2022 Husqvarna fe501s
I had almost exactly the same fracture, but on the other hand.
Healed up fine without a cast, though my left middle finger is now slightly shorter than the right one.
As for the Daks, depending on what's going on that weekend I might ride out and meet up with you guys for a bit.

Dave, I hope you feel better soon.
Just a note - call the Crowne Plaza directly at 1-518-523-2556 if you are making reservations. You should get a better rate than if you call the 800 number. I got a twin queen lake view for $199.00/night...

Count me in.
I would like to split room costs, please PM me.
I just refreshed the routes for this trip with options for new and old favorites in NH, VT and NY. Dave's adventure includes 2 ferry rides, an accent to the summit of Whiteface, scenic gorges, lodging at the Crown Plaza in Lake Placid and of course about 300 miles of daily rides on the twistiest of roads. Ithe DAKs!

OK guys! Some details!
Rob has mapped out several route options that all look awesome - Thanks bud!
I'd like to have everyone's email address, cell phone numbers and ICE contact information. PM me or email me at dave.michaud@comcast.net
The plan is to meet at 7:00am sharp on Friday, Sept 12th at the IHOP in Bedford, NH
Any questions or suggestions???

Have a great ride you guys.
Dave, are we eating at the iHop that morning (it opens at 7)?
Cheese, will you be posting the route and way points? I and others with Garmin GPS would like to download and put in our units.
Great trip. Thanks to Cheese for scoping out a route for Saturday. Amazingly, even though we saw about 200 CanAms as we headed to lunch, they were all going the other way!
Guy, Paul, Marc and Sean....thanks for joining this ride again! It's awesome riding with veterans who are competent and safe! Lots of double yellow passing in VT which always makes the roads that are already good, even better! And the roads in the DAKS are tough to beat!
Some interesting characters, some great food (Sushi Friday and The Boat House on Saturday)! The Whiteface Mountain tunnel and elevator was fascinating even if we were completely socked in by fog!
I've looked at all the video and will try and pull together a short compilation sometime this fall!
It's noteworthy that the few pictures I took are almost all sitting down to eat or standing in front of a landmark. Not a lot of scenery shots - cus we almost never stopped romping long enough for a picture. I should be able to pull some stills from the Gopro files though...!
Here's one of the group in the Whiteface Mountain Stone House...if you have any post 'em up here!

That was a great three days. Thanks Dave and Cheese for the planning, and it was good riding with everyone. Looking forward to the next September DAKs ride.
This was on day #1, crossing lake Champlain from VT to NY.
Day #3, not long after passing by the former floating bridge, ironically we find this dock & boat in the hills.
