I joined this forum because I have been all over the internet trying to find some ideas on how to run a scavenger hunt ride - one that lasts only a few hours. I have just been appointed the events coordinator for our HOG group, and thought this would be a cool thing to do before our annual summer picnic. Has anyone ever planned or participated in one of these? Do I include maps? Or make them find their own ways? Include random things they have to do - such as - climb down stairs to river at local park (200 steps)...get receipts from certain shops? Pics in front of historical markers in local towns around us? I don't think I should award points for first group back, as that would ask for speeding and recklessness, but would make some of the things harder to do, maybe such as "get a stranger to ride around the parking lot on your bike" ....Does this sound good? Or dumb? Help, please...
New at this kind of thing. I have been on many organized rides, but never anything like this.
Thank you all in advance

The speeding and recklessness part actually sounded kind of appealling.
Go fast. Have fun. Repeat.
good point, but I still want it to be fun, and they can enjoy the ride, too....
Sounds like a good time. I'd be down for it
This sort of event was just done in the UK not too long ago, albeit a bit more intense.
Mall jewelry store was one of the stops in the scavenger hunt....
I would set a time limit, like minimum time out 3½ hours and max time out 4½ hours, no specific places, everyone is on there own, each contestant gets a flag with a number on it. you get points for every photo of your flag in front of a location that is worth points, like post offices, police stations, fire stations, historic marker signs, or something similar. the more places you can get to for a photo, the more points, but the thought is to use locations that people won't act like hooligans

Pick an area and tour around it yourself for a bit. Find some obscure things and make a list. Then make a general list things to have a picture of, the more obscure and difficult to find the higher the points. For instance,
Civil War Memorial 30 pts
Bird on a Wire 3 pts
Burning Honda 15 pts
son on and so forth. I wouldn't do a set run or you might as well do a poker run. If you want, give a map with clues.
a burning honda should be 100pts

A burning HD should be only 1 pt

Random HD parts that rattled off another HD, 1point. Random HD parts that rattled off YOUR Bike, 5 points.
The original list went;
Bird on a wire 3 pts
Broken down HD 1 pts
But I didn't want to turn it into a flame the eagle thread, guess it was going to happen anyway.
i get a bye since i work at an HD dealer![]()
