Incredibly mellow turnout at Rocky Road for Bike Week this year. I attribute that mostly to the way the calendar fell this year making it SEEM like it was earlier than usual. I'd also put some of that on the fact that "they" were originally forecasting a pretty shitty week weather-wise, with the Friday showers we got. Besides us, there was only a very small handful of transients that only stuck around for a couple days with one camper only spending the night.
The weather was almost absolutely perfect for our stay Thursday - Sunday. The only hiccup was some scattered light showers Friday morning. Other than that, nothing. I was prepared for hot & wet weather, instead it was dry & cool. It was cold enough Sunday morning to kick up the fire and get it roaring again for a few hours.
I'm not much for riding around with all the morons & dickheads that flood to the area for Bike Week, so riding was at a minimum. We did manage a ride up to Plymouth/Campton to Sunset Grill for the most outrageous chicken sammich I've ever had. I shit you not, the slab of chicken they put on that roll HAD to be a pound. And I'd guess they put about that much (house made) corned beef on Ed's Reuben as well. Fuckin' incredible!
All in all a great long weekend that was super relaxing - I didn't even scratch the yardwork & shit I originally planned on getting done there this weekend!
I'd say at this point Stonnerstock is going to be nothing more than many fond memories. Lack of participation & attendees is definitely not the way to breathe new life into it.
