Okay.. Non-campers (NH/Northern MA):
The road opens at 4:30am in order to make it up for sunrise. From the Rte 16/125 Intersection we need about 2 hours to get up there (give or take)
There is a 24 Irving Station on Rte 125 in Rochester (Just south of the Rte 16 on-ramp) we could meet at for 2:30.
If you're coming up from Mass, I can meet folks at my place around 2am (I'm a half hr from the Irving) since I live along the way.
If people are looking for a place to hang out/crash a little before the ride Saturday night, also let me know as I can likely accomodate several people comfortably and save a little slab down the road!
If you dont already have my contact info hit me up in a PM to get it!

I'll meet ya at the Shell.
Prolly better I dont have a line of bikes ripping through my neighborhood at that hour of the night..... cops in town already gnaw at me like raw bate... this would just make for bloody raw bate :-)
Might have to make sure to find your neighborhood and make as much noise as possible!
haha, jk. Meetin at the shell is fine with me...we can discuss it more as the date gets closer
Whats the final meet location in NH. We all just hook up @ the entrance to the auto road?

Im thinking about it but this kinda makes me iffy, as long as its not like the last troubled ride people had then i dont mind going.

Although no ride is ever guranteed to be accident free, we all accept this risk as motorcycle riders, without accepting this we should not be on a bike.
With regard to the Auto Road... I do the road about 5 times a year. Sometimes its a sunny day in the 50's, other times there are 70+MPH gusts. The road is SAFEST for motorcycles as we fit nicely on the road (unlike people who drive large vehicles that occupy the whole width of the road).
I can tell you this... the road is paved 90% of the way, weather and wind conditions are posted at the base and monitored closely, and when they become dangerous they dont allow you to the top... period. That being said, its always safety first. Don't be misled... I dont recommend it for a 'new' rider.. There are no guardrails so it can be intimidating, but we (the people I've brought up there) have always exercised the utmost caution and we've never had a dangerous situation.
Hope to see you there!

if i do ill have to carry my dslr and tripod with me (tripod is heavy and costs half what the camera costs)
I would def be up for it, im used to roads like this in a car (grew up in the south of france where 1lane on the mountain road would fit 2 little french cars going opposite directions).
Ill see as the time gets closer, don't want to get back home too late on sunday either since i work early the next day, might have to sleep at 8 and get up at 1 to meet up with people haha.
Jackie just think of this as rt78 where Jason crashed but instead of mountains on each side theres nothing but downhills haha.
If you want we can be at the back of the group and you can be in front of me i dont mind tagging behind u to make sure its all good.
Treat it like a road and not a test of your ability and its fine
Biggest issues for "new" riders and even experianced first timers is it is intimidating to look at, and offers some views and drops along th eway. And since we all know the old motorcycle adage of you go where you look..
well you can guess the potential issues that arise.

HA! lucky me. I AM a morning person(ty 3am work start time) So, I'm going to pencil this ride in and I'll prolly have a better idea if I am going closer to the date. I had such a good time first time up, looking forward to doing it again and seeing a sunrise
(hopefully won't be inclement weather like last time :/)
I definately didnt' mean to 'scare' people away. It's a challenging road but very navigatable. There will be many experienced riders (just based on this thread) going so I think anyone who wants to see this should go.. it's definately an experience to remember!
Indeed....this sounds spectacular! I'd be on this if I werent on my way to NJ for track/endurance race!
Pictures please....!!!!
