I have some duct tape that is super sticky and I'm afraid it'll leave adhesive stuck to the bike or take the paint with it trying to take it off.. so I was looking to see what alternatives there are.. Electrical tape work ok??? how about that Blue 3M painters tape?? The 3M painters tape may not stay on while on the race track?
So what do you use and where do u get it?
Thanks,

Heres a condom. I figured since youre acting like a dick, you should dress like one too.
As mentioned, the best method is to ONLY put it on the lights... not the bodywork.
There are numerous products that will dissolve the glue (such as Goo Gone, WD 40, etc).
Contact Cleaner will also do it. The trick with Contact Cleaner is to put it on a paper towel and then hold the towel on the glue... do not scrape. Just let the fumes of the contact cleaner eat the glue and then remove the towel and wipe off the glue with a clean paper towel.
Wiping plastic with contact cleaner will cause it to cloud over.

Well, the trick is NOT to let that type of tape glue stick to your bikeGo buy a good quality 3M masking tape or painters tape which is designed NOT to leave the glue behind. Just to be sure it'll leave no glue, put a coat of auto wax on the lights first.
I wouldn't want to rub the glue off with contact cleaner, it damages the plastic, may be ok for paint but is a no no for plastic![]()

And don't forget to unplug your headlight bulb or it will get really really hot![]()

Agreed. I thought I was clear to NOT rub the glue with Contact Cleaner. Once the fumes dissolve the glue, you wipe it off with a clean towel.
But I agree that a NON sticky tape would be best.

Thanks guys!!I already have some of that 3M painters tape. Just wasn't sure if it'd stay on in the wind. Looks like I'll go with what I have. I plan on taking the mirrors off and then taping the turn signals since its apparently a pain in the arse to get the darn air duct covers off without breaking the tabs..

Oh, my buddy has a BMW 1150RT that he is taking to the track day and he is wondering if a full tank and 2 gallons of extra gas would be enough or will he need to buy a bigger gas can to take up with him? He was thinking that since he had more range on a tank than a sport bike that he might be safe??
Thanks

He should be fine, gas wise.

But if he runs out in the bowl, I certainly ain't pushing!

There's a gas station less than a mile from the track, i "think" you can even get to it without even riding on the road (if you're worried about your lights being taped up) from the Nascar parking lots access roads![]()

Be aware that the blue painter's tape may not stick enough, especially in the rain. People will have to go back to the garage and do a better job of taping their lights when the tape isn't sticking well.
I use regular duct tape and remove it at the end of the day with no serious residue remaining.

suggested, nonetheless, by a gaffer himself...

Ken is correct...
Basically, I don't care what you use as long as you CANNOT see your brakelights.

I believe the esteemed semantic twister was using wunna the more obscure meanings, loosely translated to "old fart".
myself, when he chose to go that way, I opted for the even MORE obscure def. which equates to "HMFWIC"![]()
