Day One - Derry to Fort Kent, Maine
Spirited ride north. Frank's bike tipped at a stop near the end of the day. Bruce tried to save it and grabbed the mirror which came off!
LEO turned back to talk to us. Cited some of the speeds, said he was a rider himself and wasn't gonna write us but to take it easy. I asked what he rode. He said a Gixxer 1000. We both laughed.
Dinner in Fort Kent with many attractive waitresses.
Day 2 - Fort Kent Maine to Riviere au Renard
Rain in the am. Stopped for 30 minutes at boarder by a gorgeous border guard. No one complained. Good pace all day. Frank discovered he needed a tire. Great lunch at La Homard
Day 3 - Riviere au Renard to Bathurst New Brunswick
Couple hours spent in the Forillon National park at the tip of the Gaspe. Beautiful.
Then on to Gaspe so Frank could get a tire. Stopped in Perce for photos.
Then rain.
About 50 miles before leaving the Gaspe for New Brunswick...and after some VERY spirited riding, we came into Maria to be greeted by 4 cruisers and a road block. Directed into parking lot expecting the worst until I saw a Vespa and a Harley had been stopped too. Routine 'paper work' check staffed by 3 stunning female Canadian Mounties. (...nah...gonna leave it to you to wander around with that thought for a while)
About the time we left Perce Skip informed me his tire was toast too. Stopped in Bathurst for the night.
Day 4 - Bathurst to Port Hood, Cape Breton
Lucked out. Skip got new tire in Bathurst and we were on our way by 9:00.
Dull ride through New Brunswick. Off 4 lanes on to nice roads in Nova Scotia.
Lunch in Pictou. Lovely waitress....
Arrived at Port Hood and Haus Trueburg about 4:00. Time for a swim before dinner.
Day 5 - Port Hood to Port Hawkesbury (and Halifax for one)
Perfect weather for Cape Breton. Just before Meat Cove Bruce announced that his sprocket was cooked. After certain amount of nashing of teeth sent him off on his own to Middle River where there was some hope that a sprocked might be found.
Four of us rode to Meat Cove...two to Dingwell.
Then on to Middle River to search for Bruce. He had come and gone. No sprocket there so he rode another 200 miles to Halifax where another sprocket was thought to exist...
The rest of us motored to Port Hawkesbury, had dinner and collapsed.
Day 6 - Port Hawkesbury to Peggys Cove
Rain...most of the day...sometimes hard. Took the Marine Coastal route the whole way. Nice road...better in sunshine.
Short Ferry crossing in Isaacs Harbour.
Outstanding lunch at The Lobster Hut in Jeddore.
Heard through the grapevine that Bruce had scored a sprocket this morning and we would meet him at Oceanstones.
Arrived at Peggys Cove and Oceanstones at about 4:30. Myself, Skip and John took the Perriwinkle cottage on the ocean. Fantastic. Bruce was estatic to see us. Like a puppy who was locked up all day. Everyone was pretty well whipped.
Day 7 - Off day
I gave the group a break. It was raining and everyone was looking forward to a down day.
Skip and I rode out to Shubenacadie and ran a bunch of hot laps on the Atlantic Motorsports Road Racing circuit. Great fun even if my center stand was draggin most of the time!
(Better pics and video on Skips camera. Will post up later!)
Very nice last group dinner at Rhubarbs.
Day 8 - Peggys Cove to Yarmouth to Home
Rain most of the way down the 103 from Peggys Cove to Yarmouth where we caught the Cat. Spent about an hour at an antique car show in Yarmouth.
Ferry was cool.
Everyone was happy and tired.
No one got sick. Landed in Portland about 9:30. Bruce ran out of gas getting off the Ferry. My siphon worked! An hour through customs and home by 11:30.
Great trip...thanks all for joining me!

Nice! I really wanted to get to Fort Kent and ride down through 1 but our leg of the trip was already over 500 miles and we didn't have the time off from work for one more day, so it got axed.
THanks for the photos![]()
Poor Bruce. The RC must have been a torture rack on a trip that long!
Great photos!

I’ve been thinking about taking a trip up there someday.
Looks like an awesome place to ride and take in all the scenery.
But for now, I’ll just have to enjoy your great pictures.

i do have 1 gripe about the pics.....You speak of these hot womens' in uniform but the best we get is some waitresses and some half nekked mens' in the water.....Seriously Dave. .......

Bras cause cancer.
Uh...but the men were hot...weren't they????
Actually, one picture...
shows one of 'em. Another camera has pictures of some others and with one of 'em posed with me with her arm around me! Will post to my web site when the rest of the slackers send me their cds.
(btw...Bruce's is on its way! Good job sprocketman!)

The RC didnt hurt me at all. The riding position helped keep my back stretched out and I would absolutly do it again. The thing that hurt me was the 2 days of not riding and being on my feet too much. That mad the last day coming home painful on the back. But I was glad I went regardless. Great times.
Bruce
Looks like a good time was had by all...two thumbs up for you guys...
Very cool report and Pictures! Keep the pics of women comming!
Bruce I never would do a trip like that on the RC. A few weeks back myself and the G/F did a three day trip to VT. She rode my Duke, and I rode the RC we logged just over 900 miles and I seriously think that bike is a torture machine.. My back was tight and sore for two days after the trip as well as the whole trip it bothered me.
This weekend we are heading up the the Maine Europian Motorcylce event (MEME) I will be on my fantastic/comfortable Super Duke and she will have her torture machine (Triumph Daytona 675) The KTM is very comfy for trips like this and still very extremely good in the twisties!![]()

Hey....I saw your post on adventure rider! Looked like a nice ride! And your gf was cute...you don't need no more pictures of girls!!!
And Bruce was a trooper...not a whimper the whole time...at least until we were on the Cat coming back.
Ask him about his wave rotor....doh

Hey Dave!!
I was kinda surprised to see this thread...
Haven't ridden with/ seen you in a while...well since Chris' little mishap that day in VT........anyways...sweet trip you have posted!
I have to get out to the next Seacoast Ride....I've been lookin' at houses as of late so that's been taking alot of my weekends away. Got any advice??
I'll catch up with you soon...
Since Bruce has opted not to reply, here is a picture showing his sprocket...
One shop where he stopped described it as looking more like a wave rotor and I'm inclined to agree.
The best part was when he approached me to tell me about his problem he added that he HAD A SPARE AT HOME THAT HE WAS GOING TO BRING WITH HIM. My response was not to BRING IT WITH YOU but to INSTALL THE FREEKIN' THING!!!![]()
Poor Bruce...putting up with my wrath and having to drive a total of 500 miles from Port Hood, around Cape Breton, on to Truro then to Halifax...all with that sprocket.

Holy no toothed sproclet Batman.... You didn't change it before you left? And you didn't change it on your own? You my friend need some How to Lessons on small bike repairs. I rememer I had to show you how to install a headlight on your bike!
Have you changed your blinker fuild recently?? Better check your log book...![]()

I thought I could make it. By mile 1900 on the trip, the sprocket thought different. It was a learning experience. When you take a 2500 mile trip, do your sprocket and chain thats sitting in your garage. It was about half worn when I left. I thought it was gonna make it.
Bruce
Looks like a great time.
I'd love to do a trip like that, but need something more comfy than the TL to do it.
Nah he did it on on an RC, I did it a month or so ago on the 675. Just medicate with beer every night before bedLooks like a great time.
