Unless anyone from North of me is going down...
And what should I get?...to start the process...
and can i just wear a pair of leather work gloves...? I don't have bike ones...
Getting back into the game! Looking for my next bike!
i have some extra gloves you can borrow. i'll bring them up on thursday.
the only normal people are the ones you don't know very well.

Beth, you will need duct tape and whatever tools needed to remove your mirrors
derek
I'll have my toolbox in the van, so if anyone is in need of a few tools for removing such things, feel free to borrow them. My bike is 100% ready to hit the track!
I'll also see if I can find the Olympia ladies' small size gloves my son outgrew a few years ago, should someone with slender hands need them.
Folks, don't forget gas!

I'm looking forward to seeing/meeting y'all.
FYI, because of the large number of new track riders, I'll be conducting a rider's meeting for newbies that will go into more detail about procedures and etiquitte. I'll also be giving tips about how to get the most out of your day. It is open to anyone, but will be geared to those new and relatively new to the track.
The Red group (beginner rules) Follow the leader will be extended a bit longer for the newbies also, and at a very slow pace. This will not cut into any one's riding time, BTW.
The other instructors will be making themselves available, offering tips and feedback.
As always, if you want some individual "instruction" it is available. Just snag one of us.
If I may...of upmost importance for the beginners is to PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO THE LINES THE INSTRUCTORS ARE TAKING AROUND THE TRACK when you're doing the follow the leader session!!!
At the slow speeds you'll first be travelling, they won't make much sense. Trust me when I tell ya that as your speed increases, those lines shown to you will make all the sense in the world...
If during the follow the leader sessions you get caught behind someone NOT following the leader's lines, try to focus on the leader and follow his lines. Don't necessarily follow the person in front of you unless it's the leader...
Okay? Have fun!

WOOHOO!!!!!! Yeehaaaa!!!!! Can't wait, can't wait! I hope to learn a lot from you guys, and I hope I'll be a good "learner" too! (poor Degsy....)
ummm...sorry for my outburst (I'm very expressive...hihihi), this is all very exciting to me and I'm getting nervous as hell...![]()

I'd like to add to what Jay is saying here. Having been at MANY track days (and races), I see what can happen.
When you are in the FTL session, try *real hard* to follow the leader kind of with your peripheral vision, but concentrate MORE on the position of his/her bike relative to the track. If you are just staring at the tail of the instructor's bike, you'll learn next to nothing about the line. Watch that relative position, take mental notes about "markers" for turn in. No brakes should be needed for this.
In some past track days, Tony has put out tape markers on the pavement to help guide the less experienced track riders. Hope they have time to do that again.
BTW, could Tony, Ken or other instructors tell me if there is any plan to do the "track walk" via SUV's again? I will have my van available for such a thing.

If we get there early enough on Wed. afternoon, I'll try and put duct tape out on the track.
The "track drives" can only happen if the ambulance is ready. Ufortunately, that's when we want to be riding.
Track walks can happen, but everyone has to be teched and ready to go for us to have the time to do this. We'll discuss it and see what we can do.
Ken, I can get there for about 5:30 if you want a hand doing that...Originally posted by Ken C

Thanks Stoneman. But I think Graham, Paul and Chris will be there. Besides, Tony submitted the names for early entry into the track already.
Hey, Jay...iffin yer gonna mosey up around 5:30, call my cell so I don't go straight to your place after my rainy(lookin thataway) track experience.
I'll PM ya...

All loaded up, ready to go!
And what a load it is. First time I've ever hauled more than my own bike, got 3 this time. Inside the van, one BumbleBee (Ninja 250), on the trailer my trusty Sprint RS, and one very cool Daytona 600 (though it's not my favorite Racing Yellow color, just Primer Gray.)
Any hope of being able to drop these bikes off at the track when I get up to Loudon? I am leaving work in Sudbury MA sometime around 5:00, should be there by 7:00 or so. Please Tony, may I come in and unload the bikes??
Also, I'm wondering if anyone there early has a longish ramp I can use to unload, rather then the short ramp on my trailer. My RS's belly pan is a little low and sometimes scrapes coming off the trailer due to the inclination angle of that ramp/gate.
See you all at the RRI tomorrow evening!![]()

WEATHER UPDATE: *All* the local weather goons up here are saying nice and mostly sunny tomorrow (Thursday)!
I guess I'm gonna hafta mostly agree with 'em on this one. However *I'm* calling for some very scattered, very light rain/drizzle tomorrow morning, followed by some overcast. *I* think the afternoon is gonna shape up nicely w/ a complete turn around, temps wise. Look for it to be cool & just a *BIT* damp in the early hours. But it'll clear up and temps will get into the 60's by early afternoon, MAYBE the low 70's by the end of the day...
That's *MY* story, and I'm sticking to it! You'll see...![]()
