What: Late afternoon rides through rural backroads (lasting ~2 hours)

When: Tue 9/23 and Thu 9/25 starting at 4:15 PM

Where: Meet at the Grayson motorcycle lot

EDIT: I'm not gonna be riding on Wed, but I'll still planning on stopping by Grayson on Thu.

EJLemo, are you planning on riding out in this area Thursday?

I currently don't have my bike in Amherst, its parked in my mom's garage. After I rode yesterday I brought it back due to my loose chain and I don't have my stands at my apt in Amherst. I get outta my exam Thursday and will be driving to go get it, after which, despite my dislike for highway riding, a really quick hop onto the Pike will dump me right in Westfield around the time EJLemo wants to head out.

If you guys are interested, I could meet EJLemo in Westfield, haul ass to the amherst area and meet up with Deslock. I'm thinking that might push back the time of the ride only by a little (its about 25 miles so, 30 mins at the max I'm guessing, not 100% on that).


I dunno, figured I'd throw the idea out there.

I did not plan on going to Amhurst. The problem going to amherst at that time is traffic over the bridge off 91 and the traffic on rt 9 to get to the amherst. I usually ride on roads west of UMass. If you guys want I could head up 91 and meet you at the gas station right off 91 in Deerfield. The one on the left handside the same side as Yankee Candle. I could be there about 415 to 425. Than we could head up 116 and go from there. Or were you all heading north of the Quabbin? Cougar if you want to meet in westfield we could meet dislock at that gas station in deerfield. Let me know.

Cougar and EJ: Yeah I'd be up for meeting somewhere on Thu. That gas station near Yankee Candle would work... how about we meet at 4:45? (I'll just take the leisurely route towards it from UMass and that way you wont have to rush from Westfield)

Yea, I think its a Mobil or Irving gas station, right before Yankee Candle on the left. I usually stop there on my weekend morning rides to gas up and get a coffee. This plan works for me....so I can meet EJ in Westfield at 4ish then head over to Deerfield.


I'm looking forward to this ride...it sucks getting stuck in the engineering lab all day and night with no bike, or time to go for a ride during the final days of warm weather.

I can be there at 430. I would hate to be standing around for 15 min when the sun is going down. I do ride at night but it is better when you can see better around corners. Will the 430 time work for you?

I did a evening ride on 116 and rt 2 a couple weeks ago. The trip home was entirely at night...116 is actually kinda nice at night, there's those little reflectors every couple of feet in the yellow line and white ones on the guardrails, looks pretty cool. I met a group ride at the Mobil station at the beginning of the twisty portion of 116. It was a couple gsxrs, r1s, and a supermoto.....they were just starting their ride, crazy bastards.

I think it's a Sunoco but I may be wrong. Also it doesn't have 93, just 87, 89 and 91. Not going anyway though.

It's looking like it'll just be me leaving from UMass, but FYI to anyone joining us last minute: I'm gonna swing by Grayson at 4:15 and then head out promptly. Again, this is happening tomorrow (Thu).

Also, FYI for anyone else who didn't see my edit to my OP: I'm not riding today (had fun yesterday, but I need to get some stuff done this afternoon)

Thursday sounds good...and while it's far too early to make a definite call, weather.com also has the forecast for next weekend looking good.

That was a great ride today, with some really nice roads that I never knew about and an equally nice pace (most of my friends who ride are more interested in stunting, which I can't stand, so for the most part I'm used to going out by myself...its nice to ride with people who enjoy riding these bikes like they were meant to be ridden). I definitely put the little 600 to work at times trying to keep up on some of those straight portions.


And I'm in complete agreement with Deslock...nice bike EJ .

I got work at least through Wednesday so I won't be able to go on any rides. I was on 116 near the stadium today and a bunch of dudes on sport bikes and one cruiser style bike merged in front of me. There was probably about 8 or so of them. I think I saw the same group last week while riding with my brother on 116 near Granby, we were going opposite directions. Anyone know these guys or happen to be one of them?
