Winter Off Road Riding (plated or OHV legal)?

Finally finished rebuilding my 250xcf after 6 months and looking for anywhere to test it out a bit before the spring enduros kick in. Unfortunately just missed the snow run <\3

I feel once I throw the Canadians & fenders on the weather will warm up. I’m looking to utilize my other set of wheels with grip studs this winter and see a different style.

I’m in Woburn and the bike is plated, NH OHV & Mass OHV legal so pretty much ridable anywhere. I’m looking to see if there are any other spots to ride during the “off” season.

From what I can find online there are only two sections open this time of year (Pachaug & a portion of the Derry trail). Does mass gate their unmaintained roads? I was thinking the central mass trail or the Johnny Appleseed for some local-ish riding.

Out by me they run enduros all the time. Miles and Miles of trails. I'm sure I could find someone to take you out there if you wanted. There is a club in union that has a big Enduro loop too. I think it's pretty painless to join up.
Oxford dam is an option too.

We’ve been riding a track on our ponds for the past 3 weekends in central RI. We also have about 8-10 miles of trails on our property, you’re welcome to check it out if you’d like. We won’t be trail riding, but will be out on the ice.

HVD is open year-round unless trail conditions are poor.

Winter riding is so fun on these bikes, it really opens up so many opportunities to do some cool stuff.

I’ll send you a message R7 about riding.

I didn’t know HVD was open for the winter. I just assumed they were the same dates as the other ohv systems around.

My luck with ice has been 1 or two weekends before the ponds started to thaw but the benefits of having 3 wheel sets leaves the options open for all riding opportunities.

I really miss the ice thing. Once the kids got older and started doing their own thing, it lost some of it's spark.

I remember seeing a pic of RandyO with the Vstrom on a pond.

Were you running studded car tire on the rear at that time?

Ponds are the best with kold kutter ice screws. Take the Invite to secret spots. Trail riding is ok; depends on how deep the snow is and use studs, not screws

Yeah, that was Randy taking a few spins on the track I used to keep up.

Kold Kutters suck. There's many better alternatives for ice without breaking the bank...
