I've run the Okemo rally hillclimb last year and this, with this group.
This one had a bunch of 1st's:
Max has been getting permission to run bikes at different events from the hillclimb.org groups that is made up of like 3 sportscar/rally car clubs.
He's had enough interest that he wanted to sponsor/host his own.
It was a combination of evolving rules, invites to test waters (bikes and riders). Hosted at a mountain that hasn't allowed or had bikes run before. Plus we ran it all the way to the top (through the ROUGH section that the car clubs had left out).
We had all kinds of cars and bikes there to take a crack at this. My take on it was that instead of making tons of rules and exclusions, they decided to invite a few riders that they trusted not to bin it in, to see how they would do, make it more interesting. I can see that opening it up for a free for all would have turned in to 1 run/day up the mountain while waiting for the crash truck and ambulance to roll every 5th rider. That would be my fear as organizer/responsible sponsor.
Now, like Forrest, that's all I have to say about that! On to the important stuff...
This was a riot, great road, great mountain, awesome people, cool cars, fast folks, really fun experience!
Some shots from the weekend.
Max and Joe, great guys taking the plunge and doing all the hard work to get this going
Lot's of volunteers made this possible too

Some of the rides were pretty suprising, both bikes and cars, with a sidecar thrown in for good measure.... and sore balls!
Once up top, it was freakin' gorgeous
perfect weather the whole time. I've done these in the rain/mist, not fun on a bike you don't want to pitch off the side of the mountain
No gravel traps or air fences here! Gotta keep your head or it gets torn off
I rode mine up, took the bags off and ran it again
coming down the right way...
coming down the WRONG WAY!!!

Oh and Robbie, a different kinda bike true... like 220hp to the rear tire, but that can be bought.
You can't buy how this guy rides.
Loved waisting time at the top chatting with him. I understand he knows his way around Loudon pretty well.
We reminisced about Barber.
A road race rider on a S1000RR, slicks up a mountain, no tire warmers, what a riot, ride along?
2:27 is almost going off in #15. At the 3:30's is the rough part. Dudes a different kinda fast.

those are the rules so far...
Unless you happen to be a sponsored pro rider on the bike that Max built.

I was told the car clubs had some changes that resulted in them not allowing bikes for the most part. I was told one event was going to allow bikes, but the allowable bikes were extremely "select". I believe the one event has passed, not positive. It may have been Burke?
