was hit head on low speed this morning. I'm injured, but home and resting. Bike was towed, gonna let insurance take care of it for now, not ridable. I will heal, bike will either get fixed or replaced. Not sure if I would trust it now though, head ons do a job on the frame.

I am banged up, new hurts developing as the day goes on. Nothing broken, mostly just banged up.
yes, atgatt. or, well, helmet/gloves/armored jacked/boots (steeltoe today).
Slow speed, ended up very lucky in comparison.
I would prefer to keep details to a minimum until after investigations and whatnot, best that way.
I can say my bike will not be trusted by me anymore, and will be looking for a new one, the rc51 in the for sale looks kinda nice, buell is also top on the list, but very open at this point, just dont really wanna trust my old bike, which is too bad considering all the work I have done to it and the almost 40,000mi I have put on it, she was getting to be an old friend.

Sorry to hear. Must sting to see the bike damaged after putting so much work into it, but you're here typing.
Rest up, heal up.
Damn man, sorry to hear!

I dont know if I'd go SV650 to RC51 - fun bike but very powerful, very heavy, and not very forgiving.
had the sv for 6 years, have ridden and enjoyed a z1000 and gsxr750 with race mods without incident. at this point in my riding career, 40,000mi under my belt, I am not worried about the power of a big bike. but I also dont want anything HUGE, and sorta would prefer a twin. Also had gsxr front end with big brakes and firm steering setup, so the only thing unforgiving about the rc for me would be the throttle, and I have never had a problem holding back my right wrist

Happy to read no broken bones and such. Days after a crash seems to let you know all the places that got hit. Cheers to a quick recovery!

yeah dude, when you called yesterday and were like "hey, how's it going? Just got hit by a car" and then I heard the ambulance in the background coming towards you... I was a bit concerned by how calm and focused on the state of your bike you sounded. All I could think was great, Dano's in shock and about 2 minutes into this conversation he's going to go "Oh hey Jay, just realized I am bleeding pretty bad, let me call you back..."
Glad you're doing better! We'll put a few beers in you saturday to help numb the pain![]()
well at that point I was mostly pissed I was gonna be late for work, I HAD been annoyed that it started raining REALLY hard on my way in, then I had something far worse to be mad at.
A few beers would be a good thing, didnt want any last night, but tommorrow sounds about right.
gonna go for a photo shoot with the former mistress about now, she's at central towing. just gonna get some photos, and let the insurance people take it from there.

Sorry about the incident, hope you get through it on all accounts.
When you feel comfortable, I'd like to hear about the details to help us all out.
feel better.
Ouch. Hope you can heal up fast.
My two cents on soft-tissue injuries, having been in a Jetta that the guy behind me tried to turn into a Golf: don't be afraid to see the doctors. Not only can they check for anything that can be addresses (many soft-tissues injuries just need time and rest, though), proof of medical treatment can be helpful in proving the extent of your injuries in a court of law. This even includes receipts for OTC drugs (Advil, etc).
And you may want to consider a lawyer; you should get compensated not just for the bike but also for your injuries (assuming you are not found to be at fault). It may not be something you want to think about right now, but remember that the insurance companies have lots of practice and legal types on staff.
just went by to get pictures of the bike at the towing shop. doesn't "look" as bad as it probably is. car hit the front wheel and fork, shattered the speedo sensor I built. found out my knee hurts cause the front brake piss cup is bent way over, the guy who picked it up said it didnt roll much because the front wheel rubs on the fender, the bolt through the swingarm spool is bent back, shifter is broke, clutch lever has some more curve than it did, bar end mirror shattered, scuffs on the fairing, handlebar doesnt "look quite right", neither does the whole bike, hard to tell but it just seems off. Though, up on the tow dolly, it still "looks" mostly ok.

you can get another SV cheap if its what you want. better off buying another than trying to piece this back together if it twisted.
sorry to hear about the crash. they really aren't any fun no matter how many times you do it.
