Sorry I've been off the radar. I haven't forgotten about you. I just haven't stopped travelling since I got here, so its hard to spend a lot of time online. Mostly I just stop at McD's for free wifi, then get back onto the road.
Hope you guys are enjoying the holiday season. I'm having a great one. Sunset was at 9pm the other day.
Mark is no doubt the only one still riding to bike night. You sick bastard.
Anyway, I setup an online travel log, so everyone can keep track of me.

I'm a couple of days behind, but you get the idea. I'll have to update it shortly because two days ago I took the great ocean road travelling west of Melbourne. It should be renamed the EPIC ocean road. It had a section of 50km of nothing but twisties with mountains on one side, ocean views on the other. I was having so much fun, even in my little rust bucket car, I didn't even stop to take pics. I can't wait to get a bike.
Anyway, I'll try and to better about keeping in touch.
Take care,
Jon

hey guys,
i bought a 2006 version of my 2007 sv650s a few weeks ago. and a few days ago i started a motorbike trip up australia's east and north coasts. Should be close to 4000 miles one way. i've started another blog, so people know i'm still alive. but its even worse than the 1st one. i just can't be bothered putting in a lot of effort. its here if you are interested.

hope everyone is doing well up there, and the summer is moving right along.
I thought maybe you were eaten by natives! You call them 'motorbikes' now? Assimilation is nearly complete.
Now that almost a year has passed... what do you think about Australia? Are you going to stay there for a long time?
Great to hear from you Jon! So how does kangaroo meat taste? Also how are the roads? Any good twisties?

motorbikes. yeah i've picked up the aussie lingo. don't think i'll ever get the accent though.
haven't tasted roo meat yet. i want to wait till I hunt one to try it.
heaps (aussie for tons) of good roads. but i'm taking it really easy. i'm a little rusty and you're generally a long long way from help if you come off. i saw a guy with a sidecar after he crashed in the middle of nowhere. he was waiting for over an hour, and the ambulance still wasn't there. no idea how long it ended up taking, but he looked mostly ok. just rattled.
plus a lot of the roads way out don't have guard rails or even a shoulder before ridiculous cliffs. make a mistake there and forget ambulance. you're dead. it might be weeks or months before someone looked down there and saw a crashed bike
Sounds like a pretty good incentive to ride within your ability! Ride safe 'cause we all care but above all have a shit-ton of fun exploring a world most of us won't ever really see!
