Anybody interested in giving me a hand this fall/next year, let me know... Looking to do a mile-ish long track with an over-under and line options for all skills.
Will need a storage box like a POD or shipping container for the over under...
We can negotiate beer, pizza, produce, firewood and ride time for your help :p

You know I will be helping. I'll see if I can find a big metal box... the Army has em kicking around.

Add me to the list of diggers. Sounds like fun to me! Not that I have a MX bike yet but there's always time for that...

I was thinking of cleaner names...
"Duc Doc" ie... I almost took my head off in the duc-doc, because I didn't duck.
another guy from BoRn says he may be able to get a box like that for me also... but doc's much closer.
so... who's got a torch to cut it out?
and... who needs firewood![]()
It's mostly oak, although I'll be bringing the logs to the mill... the tops give loads of wood. I'll also be looking to barter for log splitter use if I can't afford one this year.
If helped on track design and building before... Really need to check out the land before deciding on a layout...
I am envisioning the shipping box(es) to have cut-outs along the long side... as to make the opening 8-10 feet wide. Also planning on cutting the floor out in that area, digging down below level of the floor - hoping to end up with 8-10' wide, and 8-10' tall. As for width of table top... Well, depends on one or two boxes, and length of boxes... One may work if it's a shorter box... I just want the steel because it will outlast anything else I could support the table top with.
Once I get the property skectched out, We should have a beer or three and sketch some stuff out. If possible, I'd like to ride the track in both directions, or have alternate configurations without tons of work.
you know I'm in! Just let me know what you need!
FYI, they shut our top secret track down![]()
I agree you to spend some time on the land to get a good layout. Is it a wooded lot? Definitely think alternate configs for variety and in case of drainage probs.
Ahh, cutting the side of the container makes more sense. I'd love to come out for the design phase. Keep me in the loop.
You're certainly a bit far for a day trip, but I'd be amenable to coming up with truck and bike on a weekend if you guys are cool with that.
I'm on and off travel through mid-september but after that looks more relaxed

A buddy/co-worker of mine would probably take you up on that. He's out today and tomorrow, but I'll talk to him Monday.
As it happens, he also rides (dirt only), and so do his kids, so I'm sure he'd be interested in your project. And one of his neighbors has a track set up on his property; he might be interested as well and could give advice.
Personally, I'm not super interested in MX riding (whoops/jumps/banked turns/etc don't really do it for me), but if you're also thinking of setting up more of an enduro course as part of the project, I'd definitely be interested in that.

See map above*!
We plan on having a pretty good open-door policy. for now, the space will be tight. planning on making a huge master suite this winter/spring... Then a big addition in 2012 - add to the house to make an L-shape, with 2 bedrooms up top, extended kitchen and dining area below, and another garage for bikes/machine shop at the end, with a studio apt on top (closed off to the house) so guests will not feel like they are imposing at all.

Good basic info here. Site looks sweet, gotta use those 2 peaks for some sweet elevation change.
