So my weekend was almost a full 180 as far as emotions go so I will go day by day here:
Friday- Drove up to the track after scrambling to finish my crf all week and had some necessary parts waiting for me (like a chain) with many thanks to ZIP TIE ALLEY hookin it up as usual, Iyou guys o so much.
Did the afternoon practice and had some assistance from a13x playing follow the leader and such...3 laps into the FIRST session as alex is following me I lose the front in turn 3, so ya I felt awesome at that point and ran like 1.37s all day but stayed up ok the next 3 sessions
Saturday- run supersingles and had it in my head there was 3 waves, I was supposed to go with wave 2 and sat at the line like an idiot then ran more 1.37s. By saturday night I was honestly thinking ok should I part out the motard parts on this thing and keep it as a dirtbike or try to sell the whole bike (wasn't having fun messing up so much on the track to go that slow). Only fun I had saturday was blowing out turn 3 and then roosting through the dirt back over the curb up the hill, aparently people thought that was funny aha.
Sunday- Motard race went ok but still very unhappy with my adapting to the track, ran 1.35
Last race of the weekend was LWsportsman and I almost holeshot but a pesky husky took that away. my bike was sputtering up over 7/8 almost every lap and I was getting frustrated but tried to start pulling together halfway decent laps. Ended up 3rd and took home a trophy which was a nice confidence booster and finally spun a 1.29. Thank GOD, now I have something halfway decent to build off of.
THANKS to all the zip tie alley homies, a13x/jro, BostonMoto for the sickass Pirelli rubbers in quicklike fashion. Squirrel hope your ankle is going down in the swelling alreadyAnd congrats to the KID and CEO for having killer weekends overall
*edit* also thanks so much to Mike (#37) for checking out my mx suspension and helping me get the compression worked out better!

Dude, Nice. That's how everyone starts. Don't sweat it. Those are exactly the times I turned on my first weekend (minus the 29). I actually think the better riders start out slower because they know when they are making mistakes. Plenty of knuckleheads start out faster, but never get far. You have to be in one peice to go faster the next time.
you looked good out thwere seth, don't get discouraged yet, it's a long road to get fast around there and there is a ton to take in your first weekend. sorry i didn't get to meet you, maybe next round

thanks guys, ya we'll definitely have to meet up next time. Its always nice to hear from fast guys "thats where I was my first weekend" because its easy to forget when everyone seems to be doing 1.25s, 1.20s etc...![]()

I was running 1:30 on the new SV that was sprung for a 140lb rider. I'm not 140.
You were looking good out there Seth. Learn from it and you'll be fine. \\
Any idea why she was sputtering? Maybe you were hitting the limiter? What are you running for gearing? You should be somewhere in the ballpark of 15/40. I was running a 38 last year and went to a 40. It was a huge difference.

Ya, at this point I feel it must have been the limiter...I was fatiguing at that point sunday afternoon and getting sloppy with shifts so I might have just been holding 3rd gear open over the hill because my bike seems to be fine otherwise. I am running 15/40 for gearing and glad I didn't go 15/38 like originally planned at this point so that is good to hear from you.

You did look good out there man. Don't sweat it. Loudon is a freakin' hard track to ride. Having just come from both VIR and NJ, I under estimated the effort required to go fast around there at the start of the weekend.

Seth, you rode the beach like a champ. You had to do it didn't you. Your times will drop every weekend. The more comfortable you get with everything the faster you will go.

Leave it to the motocrosser to roost his way onto a road course.
Not that I know anything, but I thought you looked good out there Seth. I figure when you get used to the pavement it's going to be a hell of a show.
Trackday.
It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?
SUMO!
Nice to see you this weekend, can't wait to watch you find your fast this season!

Seth, Don't sweat it dude, 2 seconds a weekend is plenty of improvement and you dropped 8!
You will get fast quick, you have experience that alot of us didn't have when we first started.

Doc summed that up nicely. You did real good out there man. Brand new bike, brand new style of riding. etc etc. You went from 1:40's on Friday to 1:29 on Sunday. Huge improvement!! I think you saw as the weekend progressed that roadracing requires some thought, analysis, and god-damn-seattime. Everyone from the newbie novices to the top experts watch other races, constantly work on refining their line, and just work work work on getting better in all aspects. Far cry from our days of downhill racing and stuff where you just 'go with the feel'.
Good stuff thou man! 12 more days till the next one :-D
Boston --> San Diego
Good job man! That rip through the beach was not only entertaining but very impressive. Congrats on the big improvements.

goood work seth.. the first weekend is alwasy the hardest especially transfering from dirt to street.. thats why im not motarded.. to make habits from motocross would make me an awful road racer on those things..
but keep it up!

End of May, taking the advanced school and then my first round of the year.
Hope to get up to speed pretty quick with the advanced school under my belt but we shall see.
I just looked at my first weekend... The weather wasn't as nice but I only got a 1:33 best lap.
Best for my first season was a 1:23 and I had to get on a Ducati with 20 more HP than my Hawk to do it.![]()

I am opposite, I had to drop 50hp to go faster ahah. First weekend riding the the track last fall on 600rr my best was a 1.32 and I thought the penguin school was very helpful, so first weekend on this thing I dropped to half the horsepower and dropped 3 seconds..I guessI dropped some weight as well though on this bike![]()
