A dude over on Clubracer.net just started this very same topic, so I thought I was bring it on over here. If you haven't checked out Clubracer.net by the way, do so, new forum starting up with the goal of bring club racers across the organizations together.
Anyhow, moving forward. Hopefully everyone had a good, safe 2005 Season and we'll see even more new faces out there for 2006. What are you shooting for?
Myself I'm happy with 2005 and how it measured up.
Goals for 2005:
Get bike working and start racing in May.
Run a 1:30 by my 3rd weekend.
Run a 1:27 by the end of the year.
Get near podium.
Move up to Amateur if times are competitive and I qualify. (need 10 race minimum and .500 index)
Try not to crash!
NOTE: I based my goals / times upon what other racers had been running on Honda Hawks over the last 6 years starting as Novices.
Outcome:
Ran a 1:26.0 my first weekend of racing.
Running in the 1:20's by end of season.
Won multiple Novice races and finished on podium 3 out of 3 times in Amateur, including a win.
No crashes.
Goals for 2006
Win Ultralight Superbike Amateur Championship
Win Lightweight Superbike or Grand Touring Lightweight Amateur Championship.
Run consistent 1:19 - 1:19.5's by end of year (which is what the podium Experts mostly run).
Move up to Expert once Amateur Championships are clinched and be competitive there.
Run at track other than Loudon & be competitive.
Try not to crash!
I'd like to win all 3 of those Championships but I just can't afford to do that many races a weekend >:O
Geh. Can't wait for next season!
Boston --> San Diego
Damn dude, big change between this past years goals & next years, huh?Good for you bro
My goals for this upcoming year are near identical to yours from this past year. It'll be interesting to see how I do.
GOALS FOR 2006
Sub 1:29.999 by 3rd weekend
Dropat least a second per weekend till I'm in the 27's
Get some hardware to mount on the mantle
Not sure if i'll be taking my ZX or the EX to VIR in March... I'd LIKE to take both, but if i can only take one it'll probably be the EX so I can get used to it before the first race weekend at Loudon and make any necessary changes.
EDIT: Damnit, forgot the most important goal of all... To have a friggin blast racing along side my fellow Cheap Bastid Racing teammates and always push eachother to the next level![]()

My 2006 goals...
Be at the track after 9pm on Friday nights, relax and have a few drinks.
Sleep in on Saturday, then corner work from noon to the end of the day.
Have a few more drinks saturday night![]()
Sunday, sleep in again..
Hang out for most of the day helping anyone in the area that needs some help, then try to pack up and head for home by 4pm.
The real goal is to be able to do this for all 9 race weekendsThough I already know I won't make everyone of them

+ if I move up to AM--I run the same classes(+ races) as you + unfortunately I can't run 1:20's YET on my fzr400 so I wouldn't beat you YET!!!
if I ran a 600cc bike I could easily run in the teens though!![]()
Dude. ULSB Am is going to be fun next year. Bob Stone's getting a little motor work, I'm sure he'll be in the 22's and 21's soon. Gene Berrio is FINALLY moving up (with motorwork as well) and I'm sure he'll be in the 21's in no time. YOU should / will be moving up soon and are moving out there. It will be a fun class with all of us kicking it.Originally posted by hardcore

I got a much better game plan after my late starting rookie season.
I started this season in June and ran under 1:30's from the first weekend and made it to 1:22's (on Jays Bike) and had alot of top 7 finishes, but didn't really enter that many races overall this season.
FOR 2006
Start the season out on a newer more competitive bike and stay in Novice for the first 2 race weekends. I plan to run at least 4 races each weekend this season too.
I can move up to Amateur whenever I want, but I want to get at least one first place win in Novice and I want to be running 1:20's or lower before I move up.
By the end of 2006 I want to be placing top 10 in my Amateur races and be running in the 1:19's or faster.
I think these goals are realistic for me.
.....Oh Yeah, and I want to be able to beat Jay in at least a handful of races too![]()
Also I think realistic![]()

1. run a perfect season as far as bike wrenching goes.
2. finish every race on the podium.
3. get back into the 16s before mid-season (this is harder than it sounds!)
4. 125GP champ
5. Set new track record (for a 125) at 1:15.6 or better...
After a few years, fun is a result... not a goal. It comes from being prepared and keeping the stress down.
i want 15's and a championship, with minimal crashing, and I'd like a lot of sponsorship money, and a new car, and a better job, and Angelina Jolie. amen.
It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?
and for Naz to never ever ever beat me!

I won't be catching you at 15's, but 19's I know I can pull off.
Its gonna be a long off-season of drunken shit talking at the bars bro. Cheers![]()

Goals for 2005:
I had none to start with. I originally signed up for a Tony's track day and found a deal on a track prepped bike and had a fucking blast at the track day. I figured I would find another way to get more track time and experience so I did penguin and went from there. Now that I have minimal experience, and some great teaching and insight from track addicts on this site I can set some goals for next year.
I want to go much more fasterer!
Honestly my main goal out there is to have fun. I don't want to drive an hour and have to pay 250 dollars each weekend to get up there and stress out the whole time. If I'm not having fun I don't want to do it! That being said:
1. Get my goddamn times down! I should have done more track days before I got into the whole racing scene but oh well. Next year I will be doing quite a few track days in order to improve my body position and smooth out my lines. I also want to be able to go around the track without worrying about being the fucking annoying lap traffic everyone complains about. I would like to be into the very low 30's, high 20's by mid way through the season.
2. New Bike. Once my times are down I would like to get a newer 500, perhaps one with forks that arent bent and a non leaking exhaust. Oh, and of course it must have 17's!

I also want to run the track on as many different types of bikes as I can. (psssst hey Gary.....yeah, i'm looking in your direction.......i want to play on the two stroker.
It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?

I can run pretty even with Bob(we had some really good races) + I'm a couple seconds slower than Gene(we run together for a few laps but once he passes me he seems to be able to pull away a bit)

Paul---can ya let me know when you're doing a track day or open practice? I would really like to follow you + viceversa!!!
I run a 400cc so I don't have the straightaway speed or corner exit power like these 600cc jokers + I NEED to get faster!!
I seem to be stuck in the 1:24's + I know you are very fast on that little wing-dinger!!!
I need some help!!!
I want to move up to AM + kick Alex's ass!

Hardcore, You can follow me, but I won't follow you til you pack that GP-style exhaust.I already know where you get on the throttle in every turn cause I can hear it from my garage!

Seriously, I'd help you out anytime. Gotta give you props for riding that 400. lightweight bikes are the only way to fly.
I'm at all Tonystrackdays. I may try to teach with Penguin next year as well.
No fair. I was going to follow Paul! Hah. New 2006 Goal: No getting beat by Chad (same reason.. don't want blown out eardrums)

I actually did put a quieter exhaust on it for 1 race weekend this past year but it caused a major dead spot at about 10,000rpm which is really where the bike starts to pull!!!
I love riding the 400---I know the bikes limits + I can ride it to its' limits comfortably---BUT I need help getting it around the track FASTER!!!! I'm definately takin' you up on the help offer!!!
My 1st goal when I move to AM is to Pass Alex + flip him off when I do so----like I do to bentbryan, johnny valvestems, trackdog, nazo, doof, jim f(ag),jersey,h-berry,etc.![]()
You wanna go faster around the track? You don't need Paul, just heed my advice...
lose 2 or 3 hundred pounds and you're bound to go waaay faster beoacth!
