Really? That would be awesome
They were saying it would be Franky up to the factory team (big fan of that) and Andrea would come in to the 2019 bike. The extended rumor mill is that with Petronas out, a new Italian sponsor is going to step in, and they would want an Italian rider.
So I could see Dovi using the rest of this year to come to grips with the older M1 (which would give him a very reasonable excuse for poor results) and then get a factory bike next year.
Its exciting to think about, even though I'm not sure how he will do on a Yamaha.

Who saw that Pol coming....
Good God Dorna WTF, Videopass croaked :-/
VideoPass is finally working again
Stoked for Aleix/Aprilia, great last lap against Jack.
Should be some interesting stories going into and exiting next race.

I'm lookin forward to it. I hope he ditched his mental demons when he left Yamaha.

Honeymoon phase
Yeah, I'm really lookin forward to seeing what Mav & Dovi bring.
With Rossi retiring there's really no one single rider that I want to see succeed... I want them ALL to succeed so that the fans can be the big winners. Obv I want my fantasy team riders to do well but I'm rootin for em all. It's way more entertaining when there are surprises.
Binder's win...
Espargaro/Aprilia's podium...
Pol's pole...
Martin's rookie success...
Marc's return...
I could go on & on but my point is, variety is the spice of life and this season exemplifies that. I mean shit, Silverstone had ALL SIX MANUFACTURERS in the TOP SIX! When was the last time THAT happened?! Has it EVER happened?!
Such an epic season.

The underlying message of his speech was perfect - it wasn't luck, they EARNED it.

Awesome Just Awesome!!!!
That was a great close to the race. On one hand I like Marc a lot and want to see him back on form. On the other hand Pecco is my favorite of the new class of riders. The kid showed incredible poise to hold off Marc’s repeated attacks. Really happy for Pecco, well deserved.
On Marc’s strategy, I’m a bit disappointed he didn’t try something different on the last lap. Previous two laps show he wasn’t able to make those moves stick. I would have liked to see him hold off on his pass in 12 and try and get a run down the back straight. The Honda has shown it can run with the Duc, and with the advantage of the slipstream he stood a good chance of making that pass stick on the brakes. Pecco did show he was very strong braking, but this would have been a good opportunity for Marc to vary his attack.
I went to MMI I know what Im doing here chief
Pecco held off the MM at every turn.. the Honda is fast but not faster then the Duc... I think if he thought he could draft passed he would have...
He tried the same 3 passes on 4 consecutive laps. The turn 12 fail pass attempts set him up poorly to be successful on the back straight. I’m not saying he would have made it stick, Pecco was fantastic fighting off every attempt. I’m saying he should have tried something different after being continually shut down. I’m saying if he had held off the turn 12 pass and set himself up for a heavy draft on the back straight it *may* have been enough to get him on the brakes at the end of the straight.

Pecco road perfectly. That was exciting. I was so sure Marquez was going to try on the inside of the reverse corkscrew on the last lap and we were going to have Rossi/Stoner fireworks!
Mid-pack scraps were awesome too, they did a good job showing them.
I'm guessing Marc couldn't try anywhere else. If he could have, its Marc, he was going to.

It was a fun race to watch. I think Marc gave everything he had to win without throwing it away or being a real asshole about it as he would do in the past. I hope he continues to fight for the wins. I like watching Marc ride up front. I do hope he does break Rossi's championship record some day. Not that I have anything against Rossi. He has had probably the largest impact on the popularity of MotoGP then anyone. In the same respect I think Marc has had one of the greatest impacts on how the riders ride the bikes.
I think we just witnessed Marc's version of "settling for second".

Well that's an unexpected but pleasant surprise.... Mav goes tops in FP1?
I wonder if he was doing a time attack right out of the gate on baseline settings while everyone else was experimenting with settings? Watching now to try & learn more.

Was FP1 in the wet?
2021 KTM Duke 890 R
2020 BMW R1250GS Adventure Exclusive
1982 Honda CB750F Super Sport
Most of it was full dry. With about 13 minutes left the skies started to open up.
I think I heard the commentators say at one point that no one had ran a soft rear yet, so they didn't feel that anyone had done a time attack.
Yeah, Mav did that 32.666 on a soft front, med rear.
