I figured Yates might have drop kicked him, but I guess Al Ludington got to him first for not yielding while the blue flag was waving during the superbike race in Ohio.

what an idiot getting caught on tape for that....
OK edjamakate me... am I missing something? I didn't see the race, was he acting bizzare or did he hold his line?
JRP got the blue flag. Which in the AMA Rule book states
AL is pissed off because JRP didnt slowdown and move off of his line.Originally Posted by Section 7.14
AL is also abusing his power of being in charge of tech, by threatening to tear down his motorcycle if the higher ups dont penalize him. and that wasnt the first time AL did that this weekend either as can be seen here

exactly, Hold your line... so did he do wrong or is the other guy being a douche? pardon the noob questions.
If he held his line he followed the rules.
Umm... the guy in charge of tech is an active racer? Holy bullshit.

As I saw it, he definitely held his line, but he didn't back off and let Yates by. It sounds like Al wanted him to pull off the line, which wouldn't be too safe in that section of track. Backing off a little might have been the way to go, but he probably figures, if they're lapping him then they're way faster...
JRP fucked up for sure, had me moved over Yates maybe could have challenged Josh and gotten around him.

How does one fuck up by following the rule that is in plain text?

The rule certainly leaves room for interpretation, but I personally think there's a difference between ''hold your line'' and ''hold the racing line''..... The way I see it, if you get the blue flag, be predictable and hold your line... but take a line that allows you to be pased easily, be it taking a wide or narrow entry, wide or narow mid-corner line or wide or narrow exit.

Interesting.
If your line at that moment in time happens to be the racing line then......
I'd have to see the video.
Anyone want to talk about a racer being in charge of tech?

Maybe Alex can chime in and give us Yates' point of view...
^ That would be good to get more of the story, seeing how the video is only two minutes and most likely only shows us one side.

One track day & you already understand it all, huh?Originally Posted by obsolete
You've never seen a racer leave the door open & get passed before? Like I said... ''your line'' can be different from the racing line.... But it can also include the racing line. The racing line is fluid, it's not a line that's set in stone.

Not in the least. But I understand rules and regulations and have been involved in a few racing series. Not only participating but also organizing. Go twist your shirt above your head like a helicopter PETEY PAB MOTHER FUCKER!!!!!
I sure have but I'm going on what the rule states and the shit conduct of the tech director. Could he have been more courteous and left an opening to pass, sure thing, but if he stayed on his line he did not break the rules there for the tech director should shut his pie hole and let Yates go bitch him out after the race and then take some on track justice.

''riders are advised to keep their line AND ALLOW THE FASTER RIDER TO PASS....... BLACK FLAGGED''.... ie, leave a window. I haven't even seen the vid, but if he didn't make a hole then he broke the rule.

isn't a faster ride supposed to be able to get around him. All you that race at Loundon always state 'just hold your line and be predictable and we'll get around you' NOW that is paraphrased and not exact. IF he was being consistent holding his line he did nothing wrong, IF he was altering his line to hold back the pass he's an asshole...right?????
I'll show you making a hole.
Problem is, if you set your line in the turn what course of action are you to take that won't change your line to allow a pass?
Like I said, I'd have to see it. The way I read it is to stay on the line you have picked and don't try and block.

Seriously, dude? Do you have any idea how many times I've found myself in front of a faster rider that I wasn't direcly racing against because they were either lapping me or in a different class and was able to make it easy for them to pass WITHOUT a lot of effort, being dangerously unpredictable or ruining my lap time? The rider behind you has no idea what line you have picked so there's nothing stopping you from making a small change to it. If it were impossible to follow this simple rule and change your line by a foot or two to make it easier for the faster rider to pass then they wouldn't even have a blue flag.

Don't get your leathers in a wad. I never said I know lines better than you. I get it, you race your opinion is more valid, but don't act like I can't argue rules and the enforcement of them because I don't race motorcycles.
I'm saying the rule says: don't change your line. You are saying to change it to make it easier for the person to pass. Hence violating the rule. I understand rules and practice are different but if that's the case the rule should just state that you are to let the the racer pass. If he held his line he is being chastized for following the rules and that is wrong.
