Who actually RACED their rookie race?

When I did mine I thought it was just a spirited trackday kinda ride. Not really pushing, just another practice with an occasional safe pass if the guy in front of me was really slow. Only riding at 85%...

The instructors stressed just finishing on 2 wheels (I had 3 guys crash out in my Rookie race in Arizona and not get their licenses).

I just think it interesting that some people treat it like a "race" or like it means something?

My rookie race plan was to go slow and get my license. Just as I was told by Penquin to do. Then somebody tried to pass me and all hell broke loose.

Having only been on a motorcycle since March of 2008, I figured that I didn't need my first "off" to be in the Rookie Race in August of 2008. I took it easy and was happy to finish.

I kinda "raced" it I guess. I used it to work on my lines and get faster... then when I came up on the leader in my wave in T3 I outbraked him (couldn't resist). so I guess I kinda raced it

I did not "race". I was under a strict agreement with The Black Squirrel Lover, so I cruised instead.

I admit I got bit by the race bug in my rookie race and actually tried just because I knew I could beat the guy in front of me. Hey, I got a cool trophy for it!

I led every lap of my wave (lightweight) and won easily. Never saw anyone else on a lightweight bike. Did have fun 'racing' the 600's from the wave in front of me.

Yeah, I had no idea about the trophy since they stress to you that it is not a race. I was roaming the pits and heard my name being called over the PA system to report to the Penguin garage.

Since I wheeled off the start, though it was no bootie fashion show I promise, I wasn;t anywhere near the front, so I no racey. PLus I only cared to finish and didn't have a clue how to pass in racing anyway. However, if I knew you got one of them there cool trophies, I probably wouldn;t have gotten my licence that weekend. :CRASH:

The only "Rookie" racing I did was some practice starts, and then I got thrown into a field of 30 plus Heavyweight Novices.
