Me and Boy Pittenger5 AKA Dollar bill Aka Azmat. Are looking at the EX in South Boston http://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/mcy/328814350.html
What we are asking is What do you Ex Mafia Guys consider Needed Mods to the EX's Like Rearsets, penske shock, fancy fork interals Ect(Pittinget 5 is like 6'1 and 150 lbs with his pockets full of fishing weights),
. I figure he can start on the stocker type and as His laptimes improve he could add the needed mods.
Help with advice please, because we have no idea what the hell we are doing![]()
Clayton doesn't have any of those things you mentioned, and he's a fast motherfucker. I have all of those things and I'm slow. So I don't think they're necessary. But I'm not putting the stock shock back on either.
The woodcraft rearsets are good, they seem to help in a crash. And they hammer back into shape nice and easy.
Mine is bone stock minus Racetech emulators up front. I'm the same speed with or without them, just feels better with.
You should be able to take that bike home for $750.
There was a fully race prepped one on the LRRS website this spring WITH a Penske for $1200 for comparison sake.

The Guy Wants 2500. for that.
Pittenger would be no faster on that then a $1000.00 one.
Hell he could buy a spare bike for that price,
Hell he could have 2
Like Rollerskates![]()
Buy the cheapest 17" EX you can find that runs decent. That's all you need.

Nope, never said anything like that.
In regards to racing:
SV has more classes it's competitive in, little harder on tires, handles better, brakes better, makes more power, more expensive to buy
EX is cheaper. That's it. Classes are setup to control cost and make the bikes perform closely so it stresses riding ability over wallet size. Tires will last you half a season or more. Parts are cheaper than free most of the time. Bulletproof. Fun.

Hell with the Ex,
Buy those damm Blingy rollerskates
I didn't know they made c/f roller skates. Whoever buys those is gonna pull in some mad tail.
No bling there, just built for speed.
I've hit 45mph on a downhill.
Funny that I'm pretty fearless in those with little gear. (only a bike helmet and wrist guards, wearing cycling shorts and a t-shirt) But have so much fear and respect for the bike with full gear.
Obviously speed is the factor.
That would be what I am saying if you planned on racing it in a supersport class.
With Production Twins around, the EX is the fastest bike out there. Very fun, cheap, competitive and reliable. Don't go expecting to win against R1's but do expect to be given a fair shake in Lightweight sportsman (to a degree), Production Twins and GTL.

Yeah, EXs are fun and exciting, much more so than raw laptimes would suggest. Turning a 1:30-1:35 laptime on an EX is exciting, on a bigger bike it's dull. Part of this is because the EX loses time on the straight. Part of this is because the EX chassis is...err...fun
You should buy an EX. They're fun. They're cheap. You can sell them for what you bought them for when you get tired of them. And the NV PTWN grid this year needs new blood. Even a slow rider like me is getting trophies, and that's just sad![]()
