    Advice on an EX Needed

No worries man, but you'll be surprised at how fast your laptimes can drop as a novice. Either way, PTWN is a great place to get out there and find some reasonable competition to work with. Hell, there's a guy on an old EX with 16" tires who gets out there and does 1:45s every weekend on it. Nothing wrong with that, you gotta ride your own ride, but if nothing else you should have no problem hopping on an EX with 17" tires and chasing him down. After that there are plenty of EXs to chase in the 1:35-1:40 range. And before you know it, you're doing 1:30s and I'm chasing YOU around the track...

Bottom line, it's a good time and a great way to race without breaking the bank.

    Advice on an EX Needed

Production twins was set up so someone could take a stock ex500 & compete at the top level. Very few mods. Yes, suspension work helps big, but not until you're at the level where you're winning novice races & are bumping to AM. Hell, you can even win AM races on a completely stock EX.

Additionally, like it says in my sig, the EX chassis is so bad it's good. It teaches you tons about how to be smooth & how to ride a slow bike fast which is the name of the game... if you can ride a slow bike fast you can learn to ride a fast bike fast.

    Advice on an EX Needed

Theoretically, how many races could a novice do on a stock ex per weekend? I dont want to be stuck in like, 1 race a weekend or anything

I've had top 3 finished in 4 different races during my novice season (last year).

Production Twins is your home. Never leave your home. As long as you finish you will place in the top 10. Mainly because there isn't 10 riders in Novice Prod Twins this season, but use the top 10 finishes as lines to pick up chicks. This is where all the glory, big money, factory sponsorships and harems of women come from. Once you get a top 3, you get your own private jet. Jeff and Eric Wood are the flight attendants and will grovel at your feet just to have a taste of your sweat which tastes like skill and victory.

GTL is like tantric sex. Long, drawn out, tiring, and the results aren't that impressive. Still better than beating off though.

Lightweight sportsman you are racing against lots of mo'tards and SV's. I've still pulled in a 2nd place on a stock EX in novice.

Lightweight Superbike was the most fun I've ever had in a race. Motards, 125's, 250's, and FZR400's all buzzing around the track like weed wackers.

    So to sum it up,

4 races. That is the most I'd ever want to do in a weekend. Any more than that and things get rushed for me! Those 4 races are ones in which you can have a realistic expectation of having a machine capable of winning on. You can enter the EX in TONS more races, but unless you are very, very very very very fast and cheat and use the turn 3-10 cutover, then you can't possibly win.

    DAMNIT!

I forgot the most important part!

Cavitation. LEARN IT. LOVE IT. USE THE WORD OFTEN WHEN YOU ARE CONFUSED.

They should call Production Twins what it really is, Shitty McBikefest. Rules for Participation: If your bike runs lower laptimes than a lawnmower, you are not eligibile for Shitty McBikefest. -Darrell
