    AM Recognition

Also at the ruelbook meeting. All AM's who won a AM class championship will be called up on stage and will get a token of accomplishment to hang on the garage wall (an actual number plate with a #1 on it and 2012 Class XXX AM Champion on it). Tommy worked for a few extra bucks to get this done and I thought it was good thing to do. So, for all you AM's out there - be sure to come to the banquet, bring your family and friends, and let us all see your faces on stage so we know who to watch out for next season in the Expert ranks.

    Re: AM Recognition

Heard this through the grapevine before yesterday's riders' meeting, but this is great news! A nominal token doesn't necessarily encourage sandbagging, but does do wonders to recognize achivement.

Incidentally, I have a question about this I spoke to Alan about this yesterday, who suggested I contact Wanda, but since you posted here Eric I'd like your opinion as well. I began this season as an AM, participated in all 7 rounds, amassed the most points in AM Thunderbike, and bumped to EX for Round 7. My interpretation of the rulebook was that the rider who collected the most points in each AM class would be considered that class's "champion" (thus, I would have the AM T'bike championship). Some other racers see a potential loophole of sorts in rulebook interpretation, that could allow someone to believe a rider has to collect the most points AND finish the year as an AM to be the class champion. I did not interpret the rulebook in that way - and believe that interpretation would encourage sandbagging - but since the book is not explicit, I'm seeking out clarification before getting to the banquet.

This is great to hear, but sadly I'm not gonna be able to make the banquet cause of a wedding I need to go to...what are the chances someone can grab these for me or they can be mailed out? Definitely want em for displaying purposes!

Also, only winners of amateur championships get recognition or 1st, 2nd, and 3rd?

    Re: AM Recognition

....it is winners only for the AM classes. As for the "finish as an amatuer thing", I'm not really sure. My gut would be that whoever gets the most points gets the most points. In my mind, bumping to expert is no different than missing a race weekend. However, that is not my call, so I'll see what I find out.

Jay, if allowed I'd be happy to pick up your plate(s) and bring them to our "event" the next weekend.

Great news...this was needed badly. Some AMs spend and contribute quite a bit of cash in LRRS and it's nice to know that there is at least recognition waiting if they do well. (applause)

Ya they need a top entry fee spending award at the banquet. WTH, we paid for all the trophies we didn't even get, lol.

They should remove the "Top AM Points" as it is, and replace with "top spenders" and "top average AM points." You 8-race-a-wkend guys stole the top spots away from us 3-race-a-wkend podiumers!

yes, there will be recognition for who won that particular AM class, but they've also given out an award to the AM with the most points overall.

Hey I'd trade with u in a minute. Would def love to have 21 trophies at the end of the yr for 1/2 the cost of being in the top spender class with only a few

Damn a year late... but this was sorely needed.... AM's go out there and compete for the top spot the same as EX... That effort should (have been) be recognized..

I only did 5 a weekend for the first 5 weekends and 6 the last 2 weekends. I don't think I even cracked the top 3 even once this year.

Eric, any chance you'll have a list of the amateurs you folks are going to bump to expert prepared before the banquet? It would be much more exciting to have a public announcement as opposed to a private email!
