You owe whoever took those pics a case. I owe them a beer just for viewing. Who was it?

Also, any idea what caused it? I hear I may ride a highside-likely bike this year so I'll pay close attention...

    I believe i can fly
see me soaring through the open sky
i think about it every night and day
to spread my wings and fly away

    I believe i can soar
see me running through that open door

His eyes tell the story, in the 3-4-5 sequence. They go from "I want to go there." to "Oh. Cripes."

    Good Set.

Amazing sequence. The eyes are priceless...

Don't blame the pavement. The rider ran out of skill very quickly.

    Re: Anatomy of a Highside

I'm gonna go with too much throttle for his angle of lean followed by a sudden release of said throttle.

Staying on the gas wasn't likely to save him either. He ham fisted it pretty badly and had no idea that slide was coming. The best way to control a slide in my experience is to know it's coming and be mentally one step ahead of it instead of reacting to it.

+1 if you look at the relation of the knuckle guards on his gloves to eachother in each picture you can see him snap the throttle closed once the slide starts

I'm sure that works great for first timers. Along the lines of telling them to "go faster".

    Re: Anatomy of a Highside

Lol! First timers have to crash to learn it, just like everyone else. Or, take baby steps with corner speed and throttle application. You can progress up to it, but you still have to cross the limit to learn where it is. No shortcuts IMO.

    Re: Anatomy of a Highside

somebody put those together as a gif

you can see the tire falling in at 3 and 4, then drops the throttle at 5

probably concentrating on posing for the camera and then felt he was going to lowside
