So, my understanding is that as an AM i can not do an ASRA race... is this true? And any way around this? I'm thinking about maybe doing one race on Sunday...
ASRA classes(except Thunderbike) are expert only.
You can, however, do the Pirelli Diablo 600 Challenge Sunday.![]()

I dont know if ASRA does online entry. usually have to print and fax it in. Just post enter at the track. There is qualifying so no concern of pre entry time.
AM's can only do Thunderbike for ASRA as Mr Kurtz said.
EDIT: OR BUMP TO EXPERT!

Did someone say $100 ??Might be away to get some purse $$ !
Seriously.. Bump to Expert.. you are more than competitive and there are ppl to race against that are slightly slower than you and more that are faster. Instead of just you and 151 battling in the AM's, make the jump.
Dave, if Scott Greenwood tells you to bump to EX...you should bump to EX.![]()

My opinion wont get you much, but just pointing out the true way to progress is to bump up as soon as possible. The better riders you race with, the better rider you will become. Winning & setting Personal Bests is great and all but to truely improve you need to race against the best. For myself, I did the min. number of races and weekends and bumped immediately. Sure it was fun winning but I got more outta battling for 10th in my first expert race in 92 than I did winning the Jr. Expert Class (now called Am.)
In the end, do whats best for you. This sport is too expensive to do and not have fun..thats for sure.

Costs more to be competitive on a MW bike, I'd imagine. Start going through tires faster, spending money on parts to go just that little bit faster, etc. Plus, the contingency money dries up until you're at the very top. In Dave's 8 AM races, he's won hundreds from Pirelli alone.
I want an RSP bike wearing white plates and black numbers, trust me, but I think Scott G makes a good point when he says the sport is too expensive to do and not have fun, and if being in the top 2 AM guys and making some contingency money is working for Dave, I say stick with it for awhile.

I completely agree, 151 has been handing my ass to me and 242 was out this weekend due to a broken collarbone but I hope to have some good battles... if AM becomes boring as NV did for me Ill look at bumping.
But like stated before, being able to win some contingency money to offset at least the cost of tires is a HUGE help. Im not in to try and become the next AMA racer or the next Greenwoodbut i would like to do it, be competitive and have fun with my friends.
PS, Scott... I the RSP boys feed you some booze and get you to spill some insider secrets to going fast lol. That or you just tow me around a little!
I can see wanting to stay in AM to scrounge up contingency... buh... that's basically the definition of cherry picking isn't it? : ) All other CCS venues will force you out of AM as soon as you start winning. AM is just supposed to be a temporary stepping stone to get you safe for running with the Experts. LRRS is a little weird that it has a baby step before AM, but the idea is the same, bump or get off the pot, er, yeah. (That's also why there aren't any championships figured for NV and AM, those ranks aren't about competition but about learning to be safe under pressure.)
When the hell did people start saying cherry picking and not sand bagging?
