I have spent the last 5 hours trying to find American made engine guards for my new ( to me ) 91 ex500. Some guys make their own, some are buying and using frame sliders. They are putting one in front of the engine on the frame and another just behind and under the engine and another on the bracket holding the exhaust.
What else is there? Can I buy something?
I don't know who sells them now, but there are some nice engine guards that require drilling 3 holes in the frame. I think they actually strengthen it when installed as they triangulate the cradle section of the frame. I would check with Dana Temple or BJ Worsham on where to source them these days.
those are pretty much your only options howard. the ones paul are talking about are the ones that i used to have mounted on the bike. They work pretty good. Dana is the guy that made/makes them.
