Last night was a good time, it was nice seeing a bunch of you guys again and finally being able to put some other names to faces. Lots of awards, lots of news about this years racing and the track.
It seems like a bunch of good things are happening! 2009 will be a great year!
One thing I wanted to mention because I didnt see it mentioned anywhere yet was a Thank you to Doc. He donated the majority of the 50/50 raffle winnings to the air fence fund. As they mentioned last night. Definitely a class act all around.
Thanks to everyone that went, thanks to everyone who thanked the track workers, and a special thanks to Doc for helping make the track that much safer for everyone.

Boston --> San Diego
Sounds like you had a good time, Lou.
As for Doc, I only met him on the last race weekend of the 08 season, but you can just tell by speaking to him that he has his priorities in the right places.
A really good egg.
Doc you Rock! Thanks for helping to keep us all safe out there.
Wish I could have gone. So what kind of changes are they saying will happen besides the griding and the pre-reg??

Thanks for the kind words fellas. It was my pleasure
I figure we all can benefit from the Air Fence for years to come. (maybe we can spray paint "Doc" on it)
As for changes. The pre reg deal is cool. No more fax machine races!!
Did they say they are paving over the infield?
MW Proddy twins sounds cool...
and Stock Hawks in Ptwins!(frm what I heard after the banquet)
I am really excited about NHMS/LRRS trying to advertise more. We can all do a small part with that.
Missed ya Dolla!

They are waiting on permits to fill in whats left of the wetlands. I think they find out next month. They will divert the water through a culvit to the outside of the track. They are also kicking around the idea of making a kids playground to make it less likely that rug rats run in front of cars.

It was great seeing so many people, old and new faces. I have to say tho...the food, for the price we paid, was poor. The fact that so many had to stand in front of the buffet for nearly half an hour, waiting for the employees to come and replenish the trays was of very poor service. This is not the LRRS banquet organisators fault tho, I'm sure we can only blame the Hotel staff. Definitly not worth $40.00
Besides that, you could tell there was lots of organization efforts put into this event.![]()
Doc is definitly a good guy, had fun with you, and everyone else.![]()

This is something that Ive thought about for a while... and really think its going to be a huge part of what happens with LRRS and the road course at NHMS. Ive only been going up there for 2 years now but its never been a spectator sport since ive been there, its crazy to me that people werent out there watching. It seems like it would be very easy to get people out to NHMS for short money to see some good racing action.
The costs of advertising:
Lets make believe all of the actual advertising was free lets look at the other costs... right now the atmosphere is a family one. People leave tools out, bike parts out, keys in bikes, tents and vehicles unlocked.. Everyone know everyone and for the most part everyone trusts everyone.
Unless they can figure out a way to promote it as just a bleachers kind of deal and keep spectators out of the infield.. its going to change the atmosphere a ton. Anyone else have any thoughts on this? Maybe someone can make a "Advertising LRRS" thread and we can chat it up.
I think its necessary to do, but wonder how the changes will take place.

The flooding issued were addressed after the last flood. They diverted a good chunk of the watershed in a different direction.
Jerry Gappens couldn't make it yesterday, but bear in mind that before coming here. he worked under Humpy Wheeler, perhaps one of the most flamboyant promotors around. And he is definitely committed to LRRS.

Good point. In reality, though, I don't think there will be that drastic a change. There are already a number of spectators that roam the infield, with minimal problems. We just have to remember to watch out for our friends and neighbors, which seems to be the way it works already. If someone's not at their pit, whoever pits nearby that is there keeps an eye on their stuff.
If we ever do get a dedicated road course, then maybe you can look at doing something different with access to the pit area, but i still think a good part of spectating at the track is being able to walk around and see all the racers and bikes and see the track from different vantage points, not just the few spots you can access from outside the infield.
We will just have to be a little more vigilant. I am sure they will keep the guards on the tunnel.

No changes to LRRS ULSB.
No need for SVs/New EXs to dominate another class here. Thanks Jerry.
