Yeah, the sliderule site was taken down a while ago. Chris, Paul, Graham and I stopped racing regularly, so it made sense to let it go.
Chris Bruno is the engineer. He came up with the name... the rest of us are regular guys.
Pete, you looking for a "How-to"?
I found this one recently.
I think it was my PM on SBN that instigated this post? Thanks a lot. Looks tricky. I'm just gonna do the hose clamp on the oil filter. Thanks for such a great response to a total stranger's question!![]()
Now STAY THE HELL OFF SB.NET!!! That place is going down the shitter & it started at the very top w/ the admins & mods.

Speaking of which... Those sliderule days were some crazy times. We had a loose affiliation that owned the entire lenght of the fence along start/finish. It was a loud, but exciting place to pit.
Tony's set-up and bike had me in awe. We raced ratbikes that made the EX crew today look like showbikes! My first EX was hideous. 16' bias ply tires, and bodywork held together with steel mesh and safety wire. The Yoos race a series of incredible ratbikes, culminating with that nasty 400. I remember them rebuilding that motor one rainy night out on the pavement and racing it the next afternoon. It had ingested a healthy mouthfull of T6 gravel in one of their countless crashes.
Speaking of crashes, do you remember how often those guys went down?! Like 3 times a weekend. Their method was to latch onto a faster rider til they crashed, or finally passed him.
Ken had an infamous series of crashes, promptly followed by my 3500 dollar EX crash fest!
We felt like we owned the place back then. I rollerbladed the track, skateboarded it, ran it, walked it, biked it. I learned every crack and crevice that way.
Those were the days...
That video you made on a 125 was insane, it gave me a whole new outlook as to how fast you can go in the bowl!
Yes, indeed. My RD400 was a magnet for fallen riders in front of me. And the Yoo brothers were something to see, for sure.
Here are two photos. One with Paul, Chris, and me lining up for pre-grid before a race. The other is of Chris' and my bikes during Penguin School. Jack stand is vintage race spec.
You can see the EZ-ups in the pre-grid photo lining the fence along with Tony's Maxima canopy.
Here's the other photo along with one of me on the old RD.
We actually had four Maxima canopies at one point--tony had two i had the other two. we sort of bookended the crew. Lots of people don't remember lots of other lost racers such as Andy Rigo, Mike Haggerty, and Paul Gilbert. Don't forget that Gus used to be part of the original fence gang on his Aprilia.
photos...
and two more...
