Dear 125GP racers, I have a bad idea, and I'd like some help executing it.
1st - What's a set of rims for your machines go for, on the low end?
2nd - Can I borrow a set of warmers for Dec?
Kurlon + bad idea = entertainment.

I got a set of rims in very good condition with wets for $550.
They are pretty rare but they sometimes come up on USGPRU.
One of my warmers burnt out so can't help you there sorry!

Cool, if I have as much fun as I hope in Dec, I think I'll take you up on the wheels.
...which will mean MORE custom spacer fabrication to figure out... plus now I've got a four wheeler I need to sort the engine on... my garage is full of busted stuff again?!
Do you have a lathe? Do you fab your own spacers?
I wish. I just figured out dimensions, drew up a horrible diagram on a notebook and had the local machine shop turn out a set. First batch were dead nuts on to my numbers, somehow the clutch side spacer came out short though. I've been going over my math trying to figure out the gaff, in the mean time I've got a revised set of dimensions to give them, plus I need an OEM spacer shortened and a brake caliper bracket milled for another project.
My question led to 20 minutes of watching youtube and surfing the 'net about how I could talk my buddy into letting me convert his dads old wood turning lathe into a machine setup. That led to reviews on those small HF machine lathes, which led to..
..me remembering I still have room in the garage for more motorcycles.
Good luck with the bad ideas man!
I have a set of warmers that I don't use.
As long as you don't plan on setting your self on fire you can buy or borrow them.
Mwhahahaa! Excellent... Smithers! Bring around the horseless auto-mo-carriage at once!
So, yeah, I'm back to poking at this idea again.
To fill in the blanks, the race in December didn't happen. The kart track double booked and screwed the bikers over. This was going to be an epic indoor midnight thrash fest on pit and play bikes like the year before but it just didn't pan out. To enter, I took what used to be my wife's TT-R125 LE and grafted on the 17" front off a dead YZ80 which is sporting an old 125GP front Bridgestone. In back I spooned on a BT45 on the stock 16" rear. A lil spacer cutting, brake caliper grinding, and I got it lined up nicely in the stock forks.
Then the race went away. This leaves me with a TT-R125 LE sporting street tires, a 19" front with a knobby wondering what happened, a 16" knobby sulking in the corner and a YZ80 plus parts bin that's complete save for a top end and gas cap. I need another distraction like I need a hole in the head, but part of me really wants to setup the TT-R with 125GP wheels for road ripping at Boxshop and for use as a pitbike at the track. Because it's a play bike, I have to do it on the CHEEEAP. This can't be another CRF70RR.I've also decided whatever I do, the mods will be limited such that it can go back to stock at a moment's notice. That keeps me in check.
So, anyone got CHEAP bits they want to offer up for the cause?![]()
Expat, can I borrow those wheels to see if they'll readily adapt or if I'm getting in over my head?
