holy balls was it. I thought my leathers were peeling off of me, I thought the body work was pealing off the bike, and I thought I was going to come to a stop in 1962 to meet up with Doc and George McFly.Originally posted by bentbryan

It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?

of course. According to Daytona USA you would tumble down the banking at anything less than 70mph. It was tough to walk up the sample ramp even holding on to the railing.Originally posted by OreoGaborio

Having raced Daytona I can vouch for this...you do indeed need to be doing 80+ mph to just stay up on the bank.. to plane out where the bike is perpendicular to the track surface you have to be doing about 120 or so.
Even at 80mph the bike will stay up on the wall but it wants to slide down the right side of the bike.. almost like low siding while being upright. It is some scary shit.
Also instead of being in a full tuck looking straight through the bubble, you have to turn your hear to the side a bit to look down the track.
And YOU SHOULD NEVER SIT UP AT 165 MPH BEFORE APPLYING THE BRAKE COMING INTO 1 or THE BUS STOP (when they had the bus stop.) I made that mistake ONCE! I was almost in a world of shit for a few seconds.

Karloff? Sidekick? FUCK YOU!! That cocksucker does not deserve to smell my shit!
and when you think you're coming into turn one "way too slow" and decide to let go of the brake for a second, you quickly realize you're still doing 120 and there is suddenly no more track.

Yeah that can ruin your day for sure. Also be sure to move your upperbody away from the guard rail in 2 heading into the international horse shoe. Have they re-paved those bumps yet?

what youre saying is if i go "slow" enough i can drag knee going in a straight line. or the "outside" of the turn? like the alpine slides?![]()

Thanks Guys! Wish you were there this time Gordo.
9th in Formula Fossil, 10th among the kids. The banks were good to me, she wound out from Nasty car T4 - to the stripe. 15k in 6th; I figure around 190mph.
Watching Jeff Wood lose traction and regain under full throttle (4 ft away from me) was inspiring. It's great to see our locals like Jeff Wood, Scotty Greenwood, and Peter Kates take trophies form the Florida warm weather riders!
Special congrats to Debbie Dworkin for putting her head down, dealing with the fear, and taking a fourth place trophy home!!
It was my privilidge to get the hell out of the way for Jeff Wood and Jesse Janisch! Congrats to them and Scottie for taking home season championships!
Thanks to Jay Holland for helping me in the pits too, we had a good time.
Oh yeah, don't forget to ask Jay about his bitches! Always a good time bro!

here's a current trackmap I just dug up. Now I have to decide between returning in march, or doing the VIR days....now that I have a trackmap and know where I'm going, I might be able to step up and compete.

Save me a spot on your trailer next fall...I'd love to do at least one race at Daytona at some point in my life...and I should probably plan to do that soon before I get too old...
Done!

I got just under 170mph on my data logger through the tri oval. I had the same speed in the rain on Sunday morning. Best finish was third in Formula Forty on Friday.
