    Considering a bump to expert

My original plan for this season was to stay AM for the year. Ive been having a good season. A couple of wins and many podiums. Im currently leading in points for AM mwss and 1 point from the lead in hwss. I know there is no AM championship but its still nice to have the most points.

Unfortunately I will be missing this upcoming weekend. A little health issue and no cash are keeping me home. I hope to make a come back for the Sept event.

By missing an event Ill certainly be out of the lead with little chance of regaining it. Ive been having very good races with two other guys that should have the lead after this weekend.

With a very little chance of regaining the points lead I dont see much of a reason to stick around in the AM field except to collect some trophies.

MY pb is a 17.3. I know I wont be competing in the expert field but I am running faster then some of them. I dont want to not be able to race with anyone. I think I could have fun with a couple of guys.

The question is should I ask for the bump for the sept weekend or wait until the oct one and ask then if I have a good weekend in sept.

I'd go for it. That way you can get 1 ex race under your belt before next year which I feel would lead to more confidence for the 2012 season.

    bump. for sure.

I was in the same boat and frankly its boring at the front of the pack in AM. I bumped to EX and on my first weekend placed 6,7, and 8 out of no less than 15 per field. You will rise to the challenge...

All my races are pretty much the same. Botch the start and come into T1 5th or 6th. Battle my way through for a lap or two. Chase down the leader and hope I still have something left for him when I get there. Sometimes I do and sometimes I dont.

I dont think you qualify yet James. Dont you have to be in the 17's consistently in the MW class to go EX?

How many seasons have you been at this?

I think a full year in Amatuer is a good goal but if you are comfy and won't be in last in the Expert field I say Bump.

Pretty sure only bumping to AM has a time requirement. Only requirement to bump to EX is to have at least 15 races and 400 points in 12 months as an AM.

I read something about being able to do 108% of the class' record lap time - consistently. The class you race the most is how it's decided.

    OK !

    1) What is / are the current track records for the different class's. is there some place to find them? this also mean's the track's current Configuration.

2 ) if you can run with the faster guys ...DO IT ! ( IMO )
me personaly ride to my best BUT never over my head. just like alot of you guys I gotta work on Monday...

3 ) i believe to bump it is 107 % of the CURRENT track best.

4 ) the race's don't cost any more or less, so if i could get better / faster in the same money but less time that works for me...

5 ) IN THE END IT'S ALL ABOUT BEING SAFE FOR YOU AND THE GUYS YOU RACE WITH... this is my first season as an AM my PB from this past round is an 1:18.8 I hope i can just keep chipping away at it , I need someone to chase or race against to get faster... i have been switching race's to find someone to push me / make me faster...

Re: Considering a bump to expert

107% translates to 4.2 seconds. So if you're within 4.2 seconds of say, whatever Eric or Shane or whomever has done this season, you should be eligible.
