Did some more digging, and they're talking 70hp at the rear wheel...
There are a couple european outfits building MODERN super monos pushing 90hp at the rear wheel using 1098R motors... I WANT!
That's sick!
I feel lucky to have ridden on the track at the same time with 2 of the original Supermono's. Once at Loudon with Jerry Wood and once at PIR in Portland with Michael Cyzsz of MotoCyzsz. They are awesome to watch fly around the corners!!
Boston --> San Diego
The original Supermono was supposed to push 80 to the crank, and used 996 heads, the Supermono Strada is based on Testrastretta cases, bigger injectors/throttle bodies, much bigger airbox volume, which is what they attribute the claim of 88hp at the crank from. Oh, and it's got a touch more displacement than the classic Mono. : )
I drooled over Jerry's while taking these pictures a few years ago.
